94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 footy (12) scottsdale, Arizona | December 19, 2008 A beautiful historic pub in Southwark run extremely well by Frank Taylor. The ales, all Harveys are exceptionally well kept. Did not eat but others were and it looked good. Mr. Taylor was very pleasant to talk to and gave excellent service. Defintely in the top 5 of my favorite pubs in London. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 19/20 nuplastikk (36) Madison, Wisconsin | February 9, 2008 Great spot to go to if you are in London. Had a very friendly, laid back quality to it. I suppose i should mention that i was also there at 12:30 in the afternoon! Either way, i found the place quite charming, and all the beers were top-notch. I didn’t get a chance to sample the bottle, which are all room temperature, but they said they will put them in the refrigerator for those who want them cold. Great place, hope to get back soon. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Mildatheart (1) , England | January 27, 2010 Wonderful pub handy for London Bridge Station and Borough tube. Harvey’s beers kept to perfection and one of the few London pubs with mild always available. Food is good honest grub with huge portion size. No music or other distractions a great place to meet up and talk with good beer guaranteed. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 lada66 (131) Savonlinna, Finland | September 11, 2008 I was there just before the closing time on Sunday (They are closing at 6 pm.). A nice quiet place ( at that time ). A very friendly service. I had a good time to make acquainted with Harveys Imperial Extra Doudle Stout (9%, bottle). Harvey´s and Sussex Ales on Tap (3.8.2008). | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (281) Malmö, Denmark | December 11, 2005 It should be "cleaned up" a little, to offer a better atmosphere, but we can eat there quite well, the staff and owner are friendly, and I just loved the Harvey’s Ales! It’s also possible to buy bottles. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Scopey (271) Croydon, England | October 10, 2011 Brilliant traditional corner pub located in Borough. Well kept Harveys on cask and in bottle make up the main selection with a couple of guest ales also available. Interior is traditional and quirky (i.e. jars of jam and VHS tapes are available for sale). No music, but a friendly atmosphere permeates. Food is traditional, yet interesting and tasty. I went for the smoked ham hock hotpot and was not disappointed. Friendly staff. For those looking for the traditional London pub experience this is a must-visit. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 HogTownHarry (28) Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario | September 22, 2008 Worth searching for near Borough station - my wife (who is British) and I wanted atmosphere, good food, and I wanted 8 the casks! We were there two hours on a jet-lagged Saturday evening until nine p.m. - never crowded but not empty, plenty of locals (and their well-behaved dogs), a table of young turk City business types enjoying decent cider and real ale ... anyway, the food is excellent (lamb & apricot pie and 3 veg!) and a solid selection of regular items and specials, 6 Harveys taps including a seasonal, Harveys Imperial and Brown ale in the bottle, a good selection of ciders .... very nearly my favorite London pub now - I’ll be returning. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 KyotoLefty (350) Kyoto, Japan | August 7, 2011 Nice old pub, good atmosphere. Great condition Harveys on tap and in the bottle. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Very good place. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Svesse (178) Hässelby, Sweden | October 18, 2008 Lovely street corner pub not far from Borough tube station, firmly tucked away from the busy Borough High Street. Five cask ales from Harveys, including seasonals, and a good selection of Harveys bottled beers. The cask ales are always in excellent condition and they probably serve the best Sussex Best Bitter outside of Lewes. Very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent pub food comes in generous helpings. Inhabited by friendly locals, hardly a tourist in sight, except for the odd lucky beer tourist. One of my favourite London pubs. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 YULbier (250) Montreal, | September 23, 2011 Very nice Harveys’ beers, all on cask.Worth a visit just for that. Place is very pretty, all in wood. No music can make an awkward ambiance though. Service is adequate but young waiters don’t know much about beer in general. |
