The Royal Standard is a rather pleasant traditional pub tucked down a side-street, almost underneath the Croydon fly-over. Has a rather nice local feel about the place. This is a Fullerís pub so you should know what to expect in terms of beer. They only have 4/5 cask ales on, but they are always well kept. Not a place to come expecting new beers, but a very nice boozer all in all.

Traditional, well-appointed backstreet local. Although a tied Fullers house, the ale quality and cellarmanship have been unfaltering, and this is a rare venue to enjoy the brewerís ales at their very best. Food is served Monday to Friday only, and some sports fixtures are shown on tv. Pub is divided into 3 distinct drinking areas, and is traditionally furnished with a lot of woodpanelling. It is very cosy in the winter months, and there has been a buzzing atmosphere on all my visits, cheered on by the enthusiastic licensee Martin Perkins. When on a "crawl" in the Croydon area the pub is a MUST.
