70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 Fin (377) Merton, Oxfordshire, England, England | November 30, 2009 Visited here on the 8th leg of the Thames Tipple 28-11-09. This was another one of Fin’s bonus pubs that we visit whilst on the way home. There were ten/eleven cask beers available including, Dark Star Winter Meltdown, Pictish Porter, and Burton Bridge Thomas Sykes Ale amongst the more often seen likes of Hopback Summer Lightning etc; The beers were fine, the place quite busy and the locals were very friendly. I must say as decent as it was I probably prefer the charms of the nearby White Horse at Hedgerley over this. One thing definately to mention about this place, at £1.60 for a half of 10% Thomas Sykes ale at The Royal Standard either the pricing was very wrong here or extremely reasonable. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 19/20 Joeh (49) , England | March 13, 2004| Updated February 28, 2005 As above. On a recent visit, beers on cask were: Cains Bitter,
Hopback Summer Lightning,
Hydes Jekyles Gold,
Young’s Double Chocolate Stout,
Adnams Bitter,
Burton Bridge XL Mild,
Tom Wood Shepherds Delight,
Old Speckled Hen,
Everards Tiger Bitter &
Caledonian Deuchers IPA.
Each cask is usually all used up after 3 days or so, so the beer is always in peak condition, and there should be plenty of new beers each time you visit. |
