Has the ambiance of an Exxon station. Well it is an Exxon station if 80% of the floor space were filled with beer. I love the fact that what little BMC they had was hidden in the back. I canít recall a beer store with so many coolers. They must have had 20-25. The selection of national and Belgian craft was especially good. I wish they had more local stuff but thatís a minor quibble, I guarantee most folks will find something there theyíve never had before. Definitely one of the best in the nation.

Samís is absolutely ridiculous. First off, it is literally a gas station convenience store and sells 2% gas station bullshit and 98% craft beer with literally aisles and aisles to peruse. Loads of Allagash, Bear Republic Ballast Point, Unibroue, Dieu du Ciel, Rogue, Bells, Founders, Nogne O, Mikkeller, trappists, random German and English things. You get super cheap glassware to match with the beer you buy!! I have come into Samís with a tasting group and racked up a $250 tab easily. Yeah, itís that awesome. Also, the guys that work there know just about everything about beer so ask them questions! Just not dumb questions.

Bi-polar store. First part makes a 7-11 look like a high class place. Next room over, and you have a phenomenal selection. They have plenty of macro selections, but they also dedicate major space to craft beers from all over the world. Decent prices with some good sales. Selection is a little haphazard looking, but everything is pretty well labeled. They allow you to break sixers, and the staff is helpful and friendly. Best beer store Iíve seen yet. You must stop here if youíre anywhere near Durham.
Stopped by here again today. Still feels like Iím a kid in a candy store.

This is the coolest gas station/car wash that Iíve ever been to. The reason: the huge beer selection that takes up most of the real estate inside the store. I have driven by this place on the way to work for the last 7 months and had no idea it was such a beer retailing juggernaut. Itís just off the Durham Freeway near Duke Universityís east campus. The staff were very helpful. They have a good number of Belgians in stock in addition to macros and micros from around the country. Mixed 6 packs are allowed.

Surprised that I had not yet rated my local, which is happily also *the* place to buy beer in the Triangle. As every other review says, it does not look the part. But who cares, since whats important is the superb selection inside. Every craft brew available in NC is available in Sams, with the exception of some local only stuff from Asheville (and hell, you do even see a stray bottle of Pisgah here from time to time). The list would simply be too long. Suffice it to say that they have all the locals and regionals, all the top shelf domestics, and TONS of European stuff, including fine Germans, hardcore Scandinavian (Mikkeller, Nogne, etc.), and a really vast Belgian selection. Wine and cigars if that floats your boat, glassware for everyone, and what looks to be a modest selection of jerky. The prices are good, comparable with other locals, but it is all here, faster and in greater quantity than anywhere else. Plus, the service rocks hard. Where else can you get guys discussing the merits of

Easily missed and a bit grungy on the outside but this has to be one of the best beer stores in the world for selection. We hit it on a busy evening when they were serving a few beers too but the tellers coped. Intelligently laid out shelves, all well-stocked. Good mix of US and imported.

This may be the best beer store in the Southeast. Selection and prices seem to be better than Atlanta. Staff is very knowledgeable, if not overly-friendly (unless you have multiple body piercings and tattoos). EVERYTHING in singles. So what if itís a hole/service station?

This place is the definition of a " diamond in the rough". I canít think of any other store that allows you to peruse a massive selection of good beers and letís you fill up your gas tank! This place is a must if you ever pass through north carolina. But be prepared to spend at least an hour looking around at all the shit you want but know you canít afford.

Visited Oct 06. All the ambiance and service you can expect of a gas station quick-stop, but donít let that dissuade you...they have one of the better selections youíre likely to find in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. Lots of neat treasures to stumble across, scattered about the back of the store. Some things might be a bit old, and lightstruck bottles are possible in some cases (from fluorescents, not sun), so some care is required, but overall this is worth the drive.
