Surprised that I had not yet rated my local, which is happily also *the* place to buy beer in the Triangle. As every other review says, it does not look the part. But who cares, since whats important is the superb selection inside. Every craft brew available in NC is available in Sams, with the exception of some local only stuff from Asheville (and hell, you do even see a stray bottle of Pisgah here from time to time). The list would simply be too long. Suffice it to say that they have all the locals and regionals, all the top shelf domestics, and TONS of European stuff, including fine Germans, hardcore Scandinavian (Mikkeller, Nogne, etc.), and a really vast Belgian selection. Wine and cigars if that floats your boat, glassware for everyone, and what looks to be a modest selection of jerky. The prices are good, comparable with other locals, but it is all here, faster and in greater quantity than anywhere else. Plus, the service rocks hard. Where else can you get guys discussing the merits of

Iíve never rated a place before, but considering this is now the only place I buy beer, I figure itís time. When I was in college, this was the only place I knew of where you could buy gas, kegs, pickled pigsí feet, and hardcore pornography. Now, the porn is (mostly) gone, and in its place is the largest selection of beer Iíve ever seen. If itís distributed to the Triangle, Samís probably has it. The prices are fine and they do a great job of rotating in and out seasonals. The staff definitely knows their beer, and if theyíre in the right mood will even help you out with suggestions if you ask. If you donít, they leave you the hell alone...perfect!

They are great. I go there almost weekly if not more. The guys working there in the morning are great. They hook you up if you are a loyal customer. The no doubt have the biggest selection of beers in all the area. I must for anyone in the Durham area!

Awesome little hole in the wall service station. Canít tell it has the best selction of bottles from the outside but once you go in, itís jackpot.

As everyone else has said itís just a little hole-in-the-wall place by the railroad tracks, but inside is beer heaven. Stopped in on a trip from Terp land to Southern Pines and was pleased to see plenty of beers available that we canít get in MD. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Plenty of craft beers from around the country and hardly any of the Budmillcoors crap, YAHOO!!!!!!!!. Definetly worth a stop when you are in the area.

AMBIANCE - I love the feel of all this magnificent beer in a convenience store environment. Once youíre past the bland exterior, it is a beer wonderland. SERVICE - Helpful when prodded, personable always. SELECTION - I mean...this is about as perfect as it gets, so it deserves the highest rating. Walking through Samís, you are assaulted with an unthinkable amount of choices. The only thing that can stop their stock is distribution restrictions. I truly believe they would try to stock everything if they could get it. VALUE - Youíll likely spend a lot of money here, but not because the stuff is priced too high! OVERALL - What more can I say, Iím really glad I live only 25 minutes from Samís.

I love this place. The ambiance is divisive for folks, Iím sure, but I love that itís just a quick stop (or in this case a Quik Shop). The staff know their beer, and theyíre nicer than a lot of folks assume. GREAT selection and they do everything they can to get everything they can. Definitely a must-visit if youíre from out of town. If youíre in town and donít know about it... then you donít like beer.

Samís is absolutely ridiculous. First off, it is literally a gas station convenience store and sells 2% gas station bullshit and 98% craft beer with literally aisles and aisles to peruse. Loads of Allagash, Bear Republic Ballast Point, Unibroue, Dieu du Ciel, Rogue, Bells, Founders, Nogne O, Mikkeller, trappists, random German and English things. You get super cheap glassware to match with the beer you buy!! I have come into Samís with a tasting group and racked up a $250 tab easily. Yeah, itís that awesome. Also, the guys that work there know just about everything about beer so ask them questions! Just not dumb questions.

I walked into this little place and was just floored at the selection and the pricing. They were clearing out Wild Dog Saison and Victory Saison for 3.99. Great service and selection. Could break up any sixer for a single. I was almost ready to make a uturn and return. KIck Ass store.

Really enjoyed running into TURDFERGUSON here, even though the stop was very rushed during an evening drive from Fort Bragg to DC. Massive selection, but more importantly itís very well organized. NC to the left, along with the ciders and meads. US beers straight ahead. Cozy nook off to the side for the foreign stuff. Tons of coolers as well. And, of course, taps, growlers and crowlers (just added). Top notch service. Go out of your way to visit this place. There are enough other places in the immediate area to make the stop even more worthwhile.
