Visited on Thursday 1st May 2014 around 1230 lunchtime. Located in the centre of town SBBC is in a fairly non depscript building the brewkit is visible at the end of the bar.
Medium sized venue that probably seats around 100 or so people.
Service was prompt and the place wasnít particulary busy for lunchtime.
8 beers on tap. the tasting flight was one of those annoying set ones, where you donít get to choose the beer. 5 x 4oz, the DIPA and the 2 seasonals not included.
Beers were OK, couple od duds, couple I rated at 3.4.
Old school brewpub kind of place, no go to destination but if you have 30 minutes to kill you can pick up some ticks.
28 July 2013. Kind if a sports bar. Lots of tvs, music playing. Open air atmosphere even inside (big doors and windows). There are 8 of their own beers on and two guest taps. Their beers are mediocre (only had two) staff is friendly. Kind of best to be slightly surrounded by the brewing kit.
Located right on the main drag this could be a popular hang out and they have a dozen house taps as well. However, when I was there it was the middle of the day so there about 4 customers in the place. The bartender spent most of his time talking to some friends further down the bar (an entertaining conversation to listen in on since they were reciting Simpsons quotes) and didnít pay much attention to me. Not that big of a deal to me since Iím pretty low maintenance and just need a flight and a glass of water, but I could see this bothering other people.
The beers were all pretty sweet and kind of meh. From what Iíve been told they have been through several brewers since then so itís probably time to stop back in.
I found this by accident in Santa Barbara, a pleasant surprise. Itís geared up as a Sports bar with many TVís scattered around. Their beer is quite good. Service was friendly and they were happy to chat about their beers.
Located in downtown Santa Barbara, this is a pretty ideal location. The ambiance is nice. All wood with sort of a weathered look. The guy working the bar wasnít super friendly, but got the job done. Food looked a little better than standard pub food. The beers were pretty subpar for the most part. There were 8 on tap. Some nice eye candy inside, but itís Santa Barbara, so thatís pretty much how it goes.
Went here 10 years ago. Beers were subpar. Went hear a week ago since I hear they had a new brewer. Beer maybe a bit better but I think they need to focus on improving lineup. Service and location are great. But not a true brewery.
brewpub right in downtown Santa Barbara on State St. their beer has had some problems in the past with high brewer turnover, but they have a new brewer who is getting things right. the food is good - great pizza. lots of tvs, bar type atmosphere with the brewing equipment right on display.
