86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 beer60 (2) , Nebraska | January 5, 2013 Best porter I’ve tasted in a long while. Excellent service. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 markwise (157) North of Tampa, Florida | August 6, 2012 Kind of a dive bar in Sarasota off the main drag. It’s a somewhat dingy sports bar that makes their own beer. Beer is pretty good, food is pretty typical pub fare, and the staff are very nice people. It’s a local bar where people go and all seem to know each other. I will pop in when I am in the neighborhood. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Capa (248) Manama, Bahrain | May 21, 2012 Once you get past the shock that is walking thru the front door, this is a nice little brewpub. Straight out of the 60s and only missing some shag carpet. Dark wood and exposed rock walls. You initially walk into a slightly cramped bar area that then opens up to a couple dinning rooms. A bunch of Tvs with sports galore. Being from Cincinnati, it was nice to see a UC Bearcats flag hanging on the wall and the Reds game playing. Someone must be a transplant... I stopped in twice during my stay in Florida and had the Burger and Meatball hoagie. Both were respectable and got the job done. The fries were quite tasty. While the beers aren’t slap yo momma good, they are tasty and easy drinking, which is what theis place gushes. They also have about 4 or 5 guest beer taps. Lagunitas, Left Coast, and Cigar City brews were pouring when I was there. A relaxed atmosphere with relaxed beer and food served up by ultra friendly staff. This is a locals place for sure. When I stopped in Friday evening nearly everyone in the bar was drinking from their personalized Sarasota Brewing Stein that cover the ceiling in this place. Overall, a nice and comfotable brewpub. A nice place to unwind and have a couple beers with your buddies. | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 DrSilverworm (30) Cincinnati, Ohio | March 25, 2012 Went to Siesta Key over spring break with some friends. They sought this place out for me partially because they knew how much I’d appreciate it. The place was big, roomy, and nicely decorated. Different dining rooms, each with some obvious piece of brewing equipment and lots of wood paneling and furniture. We got a whole room to ourselves on a Wednesday, with 6 TVs pointed exclusively at us playing various sports games. Waiter was very nice, helpful, and patient with us. They’ve got some 50c wings, but my friends weren’t too impressed. The gyro isn’t authentic-style either. The pizza is the real star, here. Friends got a deep dish style that was SUPER deep. Someone else got a sauceless cheese pizza and shared with me, and I was perfectly pleased. Go for the pizza. This place is really interesting in that all of the 6 brewpub-brews on tap are all the same price, from the 4.5% golden to the 10% quad. The only price difference is in the 3 sizes offered: 12oz for $3.75 (which we later discovered was a bit short when a 12oz bottle wouldn’t fit in the same glass), 20oz imperial pint for $5.50, or liter for $9... Which I think is a pretty good value, especially if you choose to get a liter of 10% brew. Waiter said they had 15-20 misc. bottles, and I discovered later in the evening that they also had 6-8 impressive local guest ales on tap, as well. Overall, a pretty chill, neat place with good prices and good food. | 74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 2xipaok (10) Florida | January 28, 2012 This place is a left over from the early 70"s. It has the looks a the feel of an old musty ale house. the food is very good. their home brew limited but good tasting. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 gkost (32) Tampa, Florida | January 30, 2011 Sort of older looking, dingy bar with a few tables of locals, some regulars at the bar, real friendly staff. Beer was pretty good and food was not bad at all. Good place for a pint or 2. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 Lubiere (416) Ottawa, Ontario | January 23, 2011 A nice old school brewpub, with 12 TVs, good wings and other pub grub, Southern hospitality, and a nice sampler flight of 6 X 3 on. for 4.75$. 9 guest taps available. | 64 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 beernovice39 (196) Montana | July 31, 2010 Kind of a dump that some may find appealing. Sample tray a plus. | 64 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Braudog (655) Hampton, Virginia | June 26, 2010 June 2010 -- Dinner time on a Thursday evening. This place has an odd ambiance, with a 1960s/70s store-front appeal and a cheesy fake-rock-fronted interior. But the service was spot on, the beers were above average at worst, and the food came quickly and hot. What else can you ask for? (Brewery #517) | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 TheWife (25) Tampa, Florida | June 12, 2010 Not sure what the owners were striving for - old world charm mixed with an American sports bar? The dim lighting, stone walls with huge fireplace could make it very quaint, but the many TVs, sports banners and trading cards on the tables conflict. Service and food selection was fine and so was the value. The beer selection highlighted their brews, which I tasted on the sampler. Overall okay beer and food. |
