(Visited 07/2014): I was born in Sarasota so it has always been on my beer bucket list to visit the brewery, so I made the drive from Tampa. It is located on Gateway Ave off the Tamiami Trail. There is parking in front of the building.

The exterior of the building is red painted wood and stone. Inside it is dark with the bar on the left side past the entrance, and table seating on the right. Another bar is in an adjoining room. Mugs hang from the ceiling and there are stone archways.

SBC has 6 house beers on tap, and on my visit it included Sarasota Gold, Sequoia Amber, IPA, Porter, Maibok and Sunset Red. A sampler is available, and the beers were pretty average on the whole.

Service on a slow weekday afternoon at the bar was good. The bartender was familiar with the beers and attentive throughout the visit.

I did not have food.

All in all the craft beer world seems to have passed this place by to some extent as far as the decor and beers but it is still a decent brewpub to visit in the area.

Sports bar vibe but not as generic as such places tend to be. Menu is mostly pub grub but very well done on all of my visits over the years--this visit I had the best fish and chips Iíve had in God knows when. The year round brews arenít the best youíll ever encounter--try the specials and seasonals. Not the newest and shiniest place in the area, and they arenít the only game in town anymore, but still worth checking out, especially for a meal if you have your family with you.

Pleasant spot. Like the people. The choice is limited, but they are fair to good.

Kind of a dive bar in Sarasota off the main drag. Itís a somewhat dingy sports bar that makes their own beer. Beer is pretty good, food is pretty typical pub fare, and the staff are very nice people. Itís a local bar where people go and all seem to know each other. I will pop in when I am in the neighborhood.

Once you get past the shock that is walking thru the front door, this is a nice little brewpub. Straight out of the 60s and only missing some shag carpet. Dark wood and exposed rock walls. You initially walk into a slightly cramped bar area that then opens up to a couple dinning rooms. A bunch of Tvs with sports galore. Being from Cincinnati, it was nice to see a UC Bearcats flag hanging on the wall and the Reds game playing. Someone must be a transplant... I stopped in twice during my stay in Florida and had the Burger and Meatball hoagie. Both were respectable and got the job done. The fries were quite tasty. While the beers arenít slap yo momma good, they are tasty and easy drinking, which is what theis place gushes. They also have about 4 or 5 guest beer taps. Lagunitas, Left Coast, and Cigar City brews were pouring when I was there. A relaxed atmosphere with relaxed beer and food served up by ultra friendly staff. This is a locals place for sure. When I stopped in Friday evening nearly everyone in the bar was drinking from their personalized Sarasota Brewing Stein that cover the ceiling in this place. Overall, a nice and comfotable brewpub. A nice place to unwind and have a couple beers with your buddies.

Went to Siesta Key over spring break with some friends. They sought this place out for me partially because they knew how much Iíd appreciate it. The place was big, roomy, and nicely decorated. Different dining rooms, each with some obvious piece of brewing equipment and lots of wood paneling and furniture. We got a whole room to ourselves on a Wednesday, with 6 TVs pointed exclusively at us playing various sports games. Waiter was very nice, helpful, and patient with us. Theyíve got some 50c wings, but my friends werenít too impressed. The gyro isnít authentic-style either. The pizza is the real star, here. Friends got a deep dish style that was SUPER deep. Someone else got a sauceless cheese pizza and shared with me, and I was perfectly pleased. Go for the pizza. This place is really interesting in that all of the 6 brewpub-brews on tap are all the same price, from the 4.5% golden to the 10% quad. The only price difference is in the 3 sizes offered: 12oz for $3.75 (which we later discovered was a bit short when a 12oz bottle wouldnít fit in the same glass), 20oz imperial pint for $5.50, or liter for $9... Which I think is a pretty good value, especially if you choose to get a liter of 10% brew. Waiter said they had 15-20 misc. bottles, and I discovered later in the evening that they also had 6-8 impressive local guest ales on tap, as well. Overall, a pretty chill, neat place with good prices and good food.

This place is a left over from the early 70"s. It has the looks a the feel of an old musty ale house. the food is very good. their home brew limited but good tasting.

Sort of older looking, dingy bar with a few tables of locals, some regulars at the bar, real friendly staff. Beer was pretty good and food was not bad at all. Good place for a pint or 2.
