Though Brauerei Müller Reundorf is rarely open outside of winter, they still brew and ferment there before driving the beer a short distance to Schmausenkeller, where it lagers underground in the old keller. The hours here are limited outside of summer, and your best bet is to visit during lunch or dinner on the weekend, though they claim to be open for both on weekdays, I’ve driven up a few times to find them closed. The Ruendorf Kellerbier is poured from gravity barrel installed inside a small, homemade refrigerator which allows the spigot to extend through the door, and the barrels are large (50 L I think), and this allows them to leave it overnight and pour the next day. The Kellerbier is quite good, very clean and hoppy, made with Pilsner malt and Spalt hops. It’s good enough to come back and drink again, and it helps that the location is convenient, about halfway between Hallerndorf (Ganstaller, Roppelt, Witzgall, et al.) and Stegaurach (Müller Debring).

Summer location for Mullerbrau located down in the village. Outstanding location with great views and just one, but wonderful brew.

The schmausenkeller is a few km from the village of reundorf where the brewery is situated .. There are plenty of spaces for parking on the road and close to the Keller .. It’s an actractive new timbered Gastätte which is open whatever the weather .. The seats outside are only ( obviously ) available on good weather .. The place is very nice with a good view on the sorrounding countryside .. The beer of Herr muller it was good but not so easy to drink as others in Franconia but still ok anyway ..

I had some great bottles to go. When I look back at the pictures from their Beer Garden I am quite impressed that I didn’t sat down for a beer. Lovely place lots of trees and a good view- the bottled Kellerbier was delicous BTW. Fresh and without butter.

Rating for the keller. Up on a hill overlooking the countryside. Out of the way but huge and nestled in the woods, makes it look really special. Multiple levels to the sprawling keller because of its being perched on a hill. Self-serve. Crowded. Great place. Very good kellerbier.
