Two trips within a month’s time. Reasonable pricing on beer and growlers. Inconsistent flavor with the beer, even among the tap mainstays. Nice and quiet, great spot to stop with kids. Bring your own food friendly.

I’ve been here three times in last 18 months. Calling it a "hole in the wall" is probably the best definition, but it does have some charm. It definitely has a crowd of regulars and yes every one will stare at you when you walk in but it really is a friendly place. Each time they’ve had approx 8 of their beers on tap. Best I’ve had have been the Bonecrusher stout, the Hopknocker Imperial IPA, and their Scotch ale. None of the beers were bad, but I completely agree that there are quality issues. In fairness however at my last visit on 2/9/13 the two beers I had and the one my wife had were all good. Beer prices are very reasonable. First two visits I had exceptional service, last trip the bartender spent most of her time talking to the couple regulars at the bar and seemed completely uninterested in my wife and I. If you check this place out I recommend sitting at the bar unless you are with a large group for the best service.

I used to frequent this place several times per year, but frankly got tired of paying for subpar beer. On more than one occasion, I encountered beers that clearly had sanitation issues. They’re not all bad, some are actually fairly good, but as a whole, this place doesn’t stack up against the other breweries in town.
They generally have 10 beers or so up, and the names they come up with for them are pretty cool, but for me, the beer itself doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.
The mug club has a really awesome feature. They have (or at least used to) two or three members only parties each year where everybody brings in food and beers are only a buck. Those were a nice perk and a good time.
The ambiance is great, it’s very much a regulars bar, but nobody’s unfriendly to strangers. It definitely has that hole-in-the-wall feel to it, which is a great thing in a bar.
Service was inconsistent. I found it frustrating to sit at the bar with an empty glass while the bartender yucked it up with the regulars. I shouldn’t have to flag the bartender when I’m sitting across the bar from him/her.
To the owner’s credit, he’s an engaging person and II never had service issues when he was behind the bar, but I question his choice of help.
There’s no kitchen, but you can bring in your grub, or have something delivered.
All-in-all, this would be a great place if they’d improve the beer. Until then, there’s too much other pressure for my beer dollar.

Not a bad little hang out. They typically have about 6-8 beers on tap and free popcorn.

Hit up Schmohz, as the 6th brewery in one day. We arrived about 15 mins before closing, but the bartender was more than willing to talk to us, and fill up a sampler. The place was mostly empty, except for 5 or so regulars at the bar. We let the bartender pick out our $5 sampler, and she even gave us an additional pour. All the beer were decent and drinkable. I wasn’t blown away, but I liked them, and I liked the feel and ambiance of Schmohz. It was a quick stop near midnight on a weeknight, but I think it would be a cool place to hang out with a group of friends and drink some beers.

A little hole in the wall type of place. Not much decor, etc. Just kind of a place to have a beer or two, and hang out. Decent selection of beers. Of the two I had, one was not real great, and the other was fairly decent (stout, I think).

Decent beers, and the styles show imagination. Food was very average. Service was fine. Routine decor.

Sixth stop (2nd of day 2) on the Michigan trip. Hole in the wall little place that has a good selection of regulars. Really, everyone turned and stared at us when we walked in. Still, they’re a friendly crowd once you start talking. Beers are cheap (total was $7.50 for two samplers of 5-6 beers each), but you get what you pay for. A couple were infected, others were downright wrong and a few were mediocre. Didn’t try any food, just got in and got out.
