This is more a need to see Place than a Place that i would be sitting in many hours. Been here many times, and in think the bartenders should be more into service :)

Wow, that’s a pub I’d like to have in my neighbourhood. First it is important to note this is an underground pub (A BEAUTIFUL underground cave) without a windows, so going there on a nice sunny day is not recommended, this is a pub to visit at night. We first tried to visit the pub on a superb sunny after-noon but we turned around and decided to come back later when it wasn’t so sunny (never really any night in mid-july Oslo) and it was a memorable pub experience. The inside of the pub is something to see, a dark cavernous pub with an impressive brick structure, this underground structure was certainly used for something else in the past. Equally impressive are the oversized big wood and leather furniture. This is one hell of a beautiful pub. Medium size, sits aabout 75 people. No food, this is a pub for adults to drink beer. 6 house beers + 6 guess beers on tap when I was there. Schouskjelleren’s hoppy beers can rival with the best Ameican hoppy beers. They also a two pages of bottle list (Norway, USA, Denmark, Belgium mostly). My waiter was also the brewer (an Englishman) and was one of the most passionate waiter I ever had. A fantastic place with a unique atmosphere, fantastic hoppy beers, and great non-hoppy beers. Loved this place.

This is a very cool place to drink some beers. Vaulted brick ceiling, a half dozen microbrews and a half dozen premium taps. A must see in Oslo.

In the Schous Bryggeri complex, building B’s basement. Fantastic atmosphere though the beers seemed hit or miss, nice hoppy blonde, ok stout & horrible triple. The staff were friendly & helpful with tasters being possible. No food seems to be available, nice enough place though.

This brewpub is located in a beautiful vaulted cellar from the 19th cantury. The furniture is classic dark brown with benches - just the way I like it. The had six of their own beers on tap along with quite a few guest beers, including mostly Danish beers. Their bottle menu isn’t big, but it holds quality beers. The service was attentive and hospitable. My hotel was very close by, so I visited both nights in Oslo.

Awesome place, looks like an old church. Good service, interesting selection both on tap and bottle, with their own brews and other national/international beers.

You can enter the brewpub from the court of the building. Don’t confuse it with the restaurant in front of which there is a huge patio. Entering the door you can see some brewing equipments above the way leading to the cellar. It’s a long room with a fireplace in the end. Quite a few boxes with wooden tables. It looks pretty cool actually. 5 Schouskjelleren beers on tap with 8 guest taps. The prices are a bit high considering you can buy 0.35l glasses of beers, but this way you can try more of them. I totally recomend this place.

A somewhat anonymous entrance from a backyard lead you down a staircase with brewing vessels in all kinds of places. Suddenly the premises is revealed as a 1500-century vaulted cellar with bricks and with a giant fireplace in the back. Rustic wood furniture is placed as a bench rows along the aisle in a church where you can drink beer at long tables in groups. That’s what I call a proper beer cellar!
Nothing is better than coming in from the winter cold in the capital and sit down in a warm, good cellar and feel the blissful atmosphere with a good beer in your hand. From the bar you can order from around 15 taps which five are brewed on site. If this is not enough, they have a solid beer meny of bottled with about 50 + different beers. What is also encouraging is that they serve in halfpints so you can taste a little of everything in one night. A fun discovery was that they sold beer also in 3 or 5 liter, or how much it was, tower where you could tap the beer from the bottom and share with the rest of the table.

Visited for the first time on a Tuesday evening in February 2013. It took me about 15 minutes to walk to this place from Radisson Plaza Hotel at the Train station.
I liked the ambiance of this place, cellar vault and everything. It was quite crowded during my visit, still friendly service from the guy behind the bar. I tried five reasonable large samples of their own beers. Worth a visit.
