86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20
Senate specializes in gourmet street food served in a modern urban environment. Space and seating is at a premium but they leave room for good beers including 8 rotating taps. Taps focus on American craft and local beers with 1 or 2 handles of Belgians. Had White Raja on tap and was very surprised to see Madame Rose on the bottle menu. It was served with the appropriate Goose Island goblets and presented like a bottle of wine by the waiter. Prices are bit high (the Madame was $25) but overall itís worth a stop for great beers and delicious food. Get the truffle fries,

76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20
Senate is a hip new restaurant in Over the Rhine, Cincinnati. Itís small and modern, with tables lining the left wall and a long bar on the right. The menu is sort of an íupscale junk foodí theme, with appetizers like poutine and a menu of 6 hot dogs, 2 entrees, and 5 other things. The beer list is nice, with 8 taps and 24 bottles, ranging from the fizzy yellow stuff (Hudy, Burger, Corona, Heineken) to Belgians (Duvel, Westmalle, Chimay, Lindemanís, Delirium Tremens, Tripel Karmeliet, Dupont) to American crafts (Allagash, Great Lakes, Moerlein, Victory, Stone, Mt. Carmel, Ithaca, Left Hand, Brooklyn), and a few others. There are also six really nice cocktails (Iíve had 2 and the others sound great), and a limited wine list. Definitely worth a visit if youíre in downtown Cincinnati and looking for a cool place to take a date and get a good beer.
