74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Rune (319) Tromsø, Norway | October 13, 2010 Very convenient to find a pub just after leaving the train at the railway station in Sheffield. You can, in fact, walk directly from platform one and into this two roomed pub with its high ceiling. 10 operating hand pulled cask ales, six of them displaying beers from the Thornbridge brewery. In addition I counted at least 11 beers on tap. Polite service, decent pub food and, most important, clean toilets. A perfect way to start our beer crawl in the steel city (visited, 30.09.2010). | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 Scopey (271) Croydon, England | May 8, 2013 Great refurbishment of a classic train station pub. Obviously very convenient in location! Inside it is actually quite large with traditional features, restored with a contemporary edge. It’s now also home to the Tapped Brew Co, which are located in the adjoining room. As with the other "Tap" outposts the beer selection is great, plenty of interesting casks, kegs and bottles from a whole variety of modern beer. Perhaps a tad expensive for the location, but not for someone used to London. The must-visit destination in Sheffield. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 Brugmansia (256) Jylland, Denmark | April 27, 2012 Visitet this pub 20/10-2011.
A great pub in the station building, nice deko and a lot of mirrors. You can access both from the street and the station. Among others they have Thornbridge and Brewdog beers on tap. Further they have a rather big selection of bottle beers, both UK and foreign.
Very friendly staff, and a nice quiet place to visit. I would say a must if you are in Sheffield :-)
| 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Cunningham (246) Halden, Norway | March 30, 2013 Just perfect.
You can not miss it. Locarion at train station. Unspoilt old waiting room.
What an outstanding selection!
Highly recomendable! | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 DanielBrown (210) Birmingham (via Leicester), England | May 6, 2012 Incredible bar on Sheffield station. Ludicrously convenient. Laughably good selection of cask, keg and bottles, with a Thornbridge and craft flavour. One of the best bars in the UK. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 jackl (206) London, England | March 11, 2013 This place has recently added another room and is now home to its own microbrewery. The Sheffield Tap’s definitely the crown jewel of the Tap empire. The bar’s quite grand. High ceilings, lovingly restored old-school interior. The beer selection’s big, diverse. Thornbridge features quite prominently. There was a quite a bit of regional stuff on cask. Keg options showcased a good combination of approachable stuff for the casual punter plus specialty items for the true beer geek (big mofo stout on keg!). The bottle list was decent, but loads of quality craft places seem to offer exactly the same bottles these days. The house beers are solid, but very safe (bramling cross bitter, for example). The prices are high for Sheffield, closer to what I usually pay in London. Overall, this is a must-visit place for any ratebeerian heading through Sheffield. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 deanso (205) the Hague, Netherlands | October 21, 2012 Great place. Huge number of tap beers bad a great bottled selection. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 mcberko (134) Vancouver, British Columbia | April 4, 2011 Must be the best selection of UK beers on tap in Sheffield (including Thornbridge and Brewdog) and extensive selection of bottles from around the globe, including a particularly large selection of Belgians. Prices are quite steep though, especially for the bottles (marked up about 100%). The place was packed when I was there (Friday evening), though bar service was always stellar. Definitely recommended. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 lada66 (131) Savonlinna, Finland | September 25, 2012 I had to stop there just for a beer. It took two hours before I kept on travelling. Thornbridge, do I have to say more (2011). | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Bart (106) Brussels, Belgium | May 6, 2013 Lovely place next to the train station, sheffield down town. Huge selection of special beers on tap and an even more incredible selection on bottle. Friendly personnell, nice athmosphere. Worth a visit. |
