Just happened to find this pub on a simple walking map from the Faversham tourist information. It did not seem for real to establish a pub so far out of nowhere, and the map didnít show any sign of a road either with the exception of a walking pat. So we just had to do this, after about 40 minutesí walk in the heat in the middle of something between swampland and cow shit we finally find this old building. Wow, what a place Ė like stepping into something between a private house and some sort of museum. Lots of old things to watch on the walls and in the shelves. Friendly, very local service, pleasant beer garden with wild rabbits and some interesting ales. Nice to sample a couple of beers from Goacher I have never found anywhere else. Did not try the food, but it looks good. On the way out we found the real road back to Faversham.

By road, foot or boat this is one of the best pubs in kent. But if you do go by boat when the tide goes out, it goes out a long way!!! Good beer served by gravity and ofen real cider too. All in excellent condition.

Donít listen to SilkTork! The best way to get to this pub is by walking across the marshes and back the other way into Oare. Faversham is an interesting place to spend a weekend. We found that, after taking a leisurely Sunday breakfast and and a walk out through the marshes, we arrived bang on midday, just as the pub was opening. Iím a sucker for these isolated, out of the way pubs and I love this place. And the beer ainít bad.

This is a Freehouse which mostly specialises in beers from Kent micro-breweries. The beers are all from gravity casks as the pub has no cellar. It's tricky to find the right road, but once you've found it it's easy - the road only leads to this pub. It's a tatty pub in a bleak and isolated spot with only a scruffy boatbuilder sharing the yard, but that's half of the charm. That, and the excellent condition of the gravity cask ales.
