Went out of our way to visit while in the area last spring and was not disappointed. Didnít have a meal, but enjoyed a fresh, great-tasting Anniversary Ale!

Shorts is awesome! Tons of unique beers on tap, good food, and fun things to look at. The only complaint...why no wait staff? It makes things pretty annoying when you have to place your order (beer and food) at the window, wait for it, and walk it back yourself. When it gets crowded the line gets long. Oh well, still one of the best brewpubs in Michigan!

Very nice brewery in a renovated old building which lends a nostalgic feel.
The beer here is always outstanding, with 16 - 20 unique taps typically available. Shortís really pushes the envelope on creativity - and does it well. You can always count on being able to try something youíve never heard of - or even thought of.
The Huma Lupa Licious, Bludgeon Yer Eye, Imperial Spruce India Pilsner, Captain Fantasy, Smoreís Stout, Mystery Stout, are some of my favorite brews anywhere, and I always look forward to their anniversary beer.
Iíve always had great service here, and the bartenders, though generally quite busy, are very friendly and fairly well-versed in the beer.
The pub has a tiny little closet of a kitchen off the end of the bar, but they prepare surprisingly good food in it.
This place is a must-visit every time I get to northern Michigan.

Brewpub of a microbrewer in a very pretty part if the state. Nice place with a comfortable feel. Staff were very nice, order food, which is quite good, and beer at the bar. A nice taproom touch. Tried 10 of 18 beers in tap. They do seem to be going the dogfishhead route with lots of atypical beers. I avoided the oddball beers, e.g. Key lime pie. Of the 10 I tried only one missed the mark. Most were good and three including an oak barrel aged old ale were excellent. Well worth a visit.

Four of us stopped in on a beer trip. This is a nice drive from Grand Rapids. It is in a delightful little town and the small town atmosphere comes through so well. One would never guess they brew such good beer because of the unassuming nature of the brewery. So comfortable here. The beer is also very good and the sandwiches we had were quite nice. I am so glad we stopped in.

We arrived around 5:00, and the bar room was pretty much full, so we sat in the near-empty second room for most of our visit. The room did start to pick up a bit later, and we moved to an open table in the bar for our third beers. Their extensive lineup on tap means that, even with so many different Shortís beers seeing Michigan distribution these days, thereís not much shortage of pub-exclusive beers to try, either. We just had an appetizer with our beers, the chorizo cheese dip, but the chorizo made it quite tasty. Good beer, and though you have to go up to the bar to order, service is fast. I kind of wish the bus-seat tables were replaced by more traditional tables, but thatís just my preference.

Went a few times over the weekend. Atmosphere was nice and inviting, with it being bright and earthy. Service was decent and the girls were pretty friendly, but it did become quite slow at times, even when not busy. The selection was decent, and while none of the beer was great, I have a much higher opinion of Shortís now than before - most of the bottles Iíve had have been infected. Pretty cool place and I would not mind a return visit.

Shortís is crazy good...the Dogfish Head of the Midwest I dare say. A Disneyland of brews. A day at Torch Lake followed by an evening st Shortís is truely sublime...

Was in Bellaire the middle of Oct. Stayed at the Grand Victorian B&B (highly recommend this place), which was a short walk (pun intended) to the brewery. it was a quite night there, food was good, beer was very good. My wife had the Shorts Pistachio Cream Ale, which was very good, I had the Shorts Bludgeon Yer Eye PA also very good. If you are looking for a place to stay in the north country and want a 5 star place to stay go to the Grand Victorian and for good food and beer head to shorts
