I really enjoyed sitting by the babbling brook. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 arkurzynski (72) West Bend, Wisconsin | November 5, 2011| Updated July 13, 2005 I’ve always liked this locale. Very unique spot on the river in a mill-like building. Outdoor area can get a little buggy at night. Nice looking inside. Their "house" beers are well-crafted and have various other local/regional stuff on tap. No food really, but doesn’t matter. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 StefanSD (42) Lakeside, California | August 11, 2011| Updated July 13, 2005 Quaintly set in the lower floor of an old mill, with a patio that sits on a river bank with a overflowing waterfall 50 yards away this place has great atmosphere. They had a half dozen, or so, of thier own beers and several guest taps including several things by New Glarus. We hit there during happy hour and got tap pours of Belgian Red and their Porter for only $3.00 per glass. Very good deal. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and talkative. Visited here with my sister during my Wisconsin trip. First stop and its a good one. | 68 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 AWISLguy (70) Wisconsin | January 28, 2011| Updated July 13, 2005 Hard to find (around the back, on the river) in the dark and snow, crossing the bridge into the mill as the water rolls underneath. Inside a quaint mix of old and new -- the old stone of the mill and the new fixtures & wood. A shortish bar area (10 stools) with a food area. 12 taps and about the same number of advertized bottles, 4 from the brewery, and a nice range of styles. Hitting happy hour meant the $4 local and $5 national pints were half price. I would go back to try others. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 phishpond417 (51) Madison, Wisconsin | July 19, 2009| Updated July 13, 2005 I’m so glad we went here! It’s located in beautiful Cedarburg in an old grist mill, right along the river. We went during February, so while it was cold, the snow and the river- and arriving at night was very picturesque. Inside it is very small, Just one room with about maybe 10 or so small tables, and a little bar. The brewing area is in the same room, but it’s very cozey. The beer was decent, and the staff was friendly. Nice place! | 100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 kylehansen (1) | June 6, 2009| Updated July 13, 2005 Great ambiance. River water flows under the building to create a great entrance. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 esjaygee (236) Oak Creek, Wisconsin | October 12, 2008| Updated July 13, 2005 Nice location right on the river by a waterfall. Several tables outside with interesting heater lamps. The walk into the building goes by some water concoction, I’m assuming it’s part of the old mill or whatever this place use to be. The inside is smoke free and quaint. There are several games to play, something I like to do while drinking a good beer. The beer I had was decent, especially the porter. The guest list is decent and they offer some bottled stuff like Goose Island Reserve, Grimbergen and White Winter Winery. The Blond Root Beer was good, as was the service. Food was only snack type items, cheese and sausage but hey it’s Wisconsin cheese so it’s all good. Main knock on the place is there is only one unisex bathroom so you might be waiting awhile to go. | 72 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 kmeves (100) Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin | September 23, 2008| Updated July 13, 2005 A great little brewpub with a very nice guest tap selection as well. Home beers are above average and you can’t beat the location with the spring actually inside the building. Speaking to the brewmaster I discovered that this place has been here for 6 years. How did I not find this place before? | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 MaltOne (7) Wisconsin | February 23, 2008| Updated July 13, 2005 Nice place. This all about the beer - no food, no wine or cocktails. They don’t have a huge selection, but they make a real effort to suplement their own brews with some choice guest taps (Young’s Double Chocolate, New Glarus Belgium Red) and great bottles (Founders Breakfast Stout, Goose Island Matilda). Atmosphere and service are both low key. Friendly, more of a neighborhood pub then a trendy brewpub. The one knock on the place... everything is served CHILLED. | 78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 BeerBelcher (134) Columbus, Ohio | April 1, 2007 After sampling the porter and root beer at the Beer Barons pf Milwaukee festival in 2006, I’ve wanted to visit this place. They had only a few beers, but they were good, and this place is quite cool. I’m definitely glad I visited.
Silver Creek is in historic Cedarburg, about 25 minutes north of Milwaukee, right along the river below an old dam. The brewery is in a historic mill, and the creek still runs through the brewery today. The brewpub is old riverstone but is very modern and nice. It is a bit musty inside, but in a good way. Smells...authentic.
Inside were 4 house brews (lager, porter, hefeweizen, and pale ale) along with 13 guest taps which had a few interesting ones like NC Old Stock Ale and some locals. This place also had a great (nearly clear) root beer, which was excellent.
This place opens in the afternoon, and has no food, making it a poor lunch stop, but a very interesting place to stop for a beer. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 StewardofGondor (122) Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin | July 24, 2006 Nice place, especially on the patio that rests alongside the creek and a miniature waterfall. Weather was perfect, and we passed away many minutes just soaking up the sun and sipping our beer. In fact, the patio is so relaxing that it kept my son (18 months at the time) perfectly content with the scenery around him. Service was slow on the deck, but the bartender inside was happy to help. Good prices - a pint of the IPA and a snifter of the Porter cost $7 total. They do have a sampler of 6 beers for $9, if that’s your thing, but they only had 3 of their own beers on tap, so we opted for the bigger servings. Nevertheless, recommended if you’re in the area. |
