Havenít been there in ages (so who knows, they may serve food now) but I recall it as being a friendly place (although be warned if you arenít clued in... its a hipster paradise) and a decent selection of beers... and the coolest turn-of-the-century urinals in all of Chicago (sorry ladies... I doubt thatíll mean much to ya)
AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 16/20
place does some serious lifting. bigtime hole-in-the-wall bar vibe. but one of the better beer lists in chicago, with tasty food, and super low prices. place is quite dark. bunch of $4 pints of gumball head, daisy cutter, etc. offered. though gumballhead tasted a bit stale. half acre shogun did some reps though. not a romantic hotspot, but a pleasant departure from beerbro bars.
AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 15/20
Not sure how Iíve missed rating Skylark. They offer some of the best deals in Chicago for beer. Daisy Cutter for less than $5? Get out! Food is good pub grub, greasy and filling. And cheap. Occasionally do get some one off kegs from FFF & Founders. Definitely worth hitting if in Pilsen
AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20
The Skylark is a nice place to stop off for a few pints and a sandwich. The tap list is fairly large and packed w/ great beer. You wonít find rarities but if you can bring yourself to drink such mundane stuff as Lagunitas Sumpiní Sumpiní or North Coast Old Rasputan, I think youíll be just fine. The food is typical bar fare and the unique thing on the menu is excellent tater tots instead of the standard french fries. Clientele is predominantly twenty and thirty somethings and a mix of craft beer drinkers and those dedicated to cheap PBR on draft. Definitely the best beer bar in Pilsen and one of the best on the South Side.
