A solid spot in the D with a great tap list. The atmosphere and food are good and service is solid. A good beer spot, but there are better BBQ spots out there.

Immediately after you set foot inside the smell of amazing food overwhelms the senses. Next you see a top notch tap list that is a combination of the best in Michigan and a few from further afield. Put together it would be hard to come here without finding at least one worthwhile draft. Prices are typical of a high end place with the more limited going up to about $8.

The neighborhood itself is a little rough but there should be ample parking. While I may not go on a Friday night this is a definite stop in Detroit for Sunday brunch. Come hungry and leave full of great pork, ribs, and a couple pints of your favorite Midwestern styles.

Excellent tap selection, and traditionally uncommon - the most "common" beer I saw on tap here was Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald. Most of the beers are Michigan-centric with a sprinkling of non-MI. The first time I stopped by here I was lucky enough to stop by on the day when they were tapping KBS ’13. It’s covered in wood paneling giving it a cabin-esque feel. It always seems to be crowded when I go here (even on a Tuesday night), but I think that says more about this being an oasis in a relatively run-down part of Detroit (a little more than most - be careful about where you park there are "break-in" warning signs). Well worth the trip , and the potential wait - the brisket and baby back ribs are excellent!

Friendly, bright revamped (earlier in 2013) spot downtown. Eye opening tap selection of styles and fresh beers. worth going out of the way for, one of the best selection in Detroit area if not the best. I am told the food is great.

Truly, truly, truly outstanding combination of spectacular food (if barbecue is of even passing interest to you) and a beer list to die for. Slows is in a typical downtown Detroit neighborhoods where the vacant lots and abandoned buildings are always nearby. Definitely follow the instructions on Slows’ website of where to park for $3.

Arrived around dinner time on a Saturday night and there was a pretty long wait list already. We managed to get a table on the patio fairly quickly though, we gambled on the rain holding off and did well. Patio is nice, you wouldn’t really know that you are in Detroit! Tap list is impressive, with a decent mix of great beers I knew and local stuff I had never heard of. I tried Stone, Founders, Odd Side, and Motor City brews this visit. Most of our table got the "Your choice" plate of ribs, a second meat, and two sides. This is a ton of food. The mac and cheese was so big that it is almost entree sized elsewhere. The cornbread was some of the best I have ever had - light and fluffy and delicious. Ribs were very good, pulled pork was excellent. They have an assortment of sauces you add yourself. Overall, a great stop. Staff was friendly and relatively knowledgeable about the tap list, though our server confused a few beers with each other at one point. Will definitely come back here the next time I am in Detroit.

Go-to beer & BBQ place near the iconic derelict train station that was recommended to us on 3 separate occasions by people not even all that into craft beer. Happy to pay $3 for guarded parking near the back and then discover an oasis of great, lovingly prepared BBQ food & expertly served beers inside: a place with 2 separate 25+ tap bars that turned out much bigger that it looks from outside. Friendly and knowledgable staff while sitting at the bar, handing out samples unasked. Decent prices for the sandwiches, OK value-for-money for their rib specialties. The Chuck Norris Oreo Cake with bacon and chocolate stout was a desert revelation... Glad we weren’t handed a 1hr+ waiting beeper like the groups arriving after us for early dinner, though.

Had a free night in Dearborn while in town for work. After a Metro Detroit search search on I ’discovered’ Slows. Located in Corktown near the Michigan Central Station. Parked on Michigan Avenue and after two tries found the door to get into Slows. Place was bumping on an early Thursday evening. Large selection of beer including many Michigan brewed micros. Food was quick, ample, great BBQ and sides. Staff was attentive, and even stocked an old hometown favorite, Stroh’s.

Easy to find location with easy street parking. Busy but got two seats at bar. Friendly staff and good service. Good draft and bottle selection. Food was delivered quickly and was nice portions at a very fair price. Well worth the visit and rating.
