Classic brewery in a wherehouse with a bar and small tasting area. Very nice beers.

Aesthetically, a fairly bland brewery inside a little industrial park. Lots of barrels all about. I only had 2 of the beers but they were very good. Prices seemed a bit high. Growlers were super pricey. No thanks. Service was friendly - almost too friendly - it was kind of a chore getting a beer because the staff was so chatty with patrons. I will definitely head back again when I have a little more time.

Visited this place on a recent trip to SoCal. Iíve heard of these guys, but honestly the buzz has been pretty silent on the north side of the stateÖ anyway, it looks like a typical small industrial park brewery from the outside, but inside itís tastefully designed with lots of space for relaxing with friends. There couldíve been a few more places to sit, but what the heyÖ They had an impressively massive tap list with lots of beers, at least 16 or so. Most of which were hoppy styles and variants of other styles with hoppy profiles. Most of the beers were really good. In fact, very good IMO. They do samplers of however many you want, and the service was very polite and prompt despite being busy. Overall, I was really glad I visited this place due to the quality of the beers and the fact that they were most likely unavailable anywhere else.

Visited July 27, 2013.

Stopped in with ieattwocansofsalsacantsail on the way up to Santa Monica for a tasting. He said there were ticks to be had so he wanted to go, which was lucky for me since I had never been. Upon walking in this place reminded me quite a bit of Helms Brewing in SD (near AleSmith) but the beers are considerably better. We waited for a while and didnít get any service but then one of the servers waved and told us to come around the corner to the cash register so we could place an order. Actually they were quite nice and helpful. They donít do flights but they do sell individual samplers of anything on the board.

I ordered samples of pretty much everything minus a couple that I had tried while they were still brewing at Tustin (Sabre Toothed Squirrel, the tripel, and one other one). I have to say that the Little Bo Pils and the Amarilla Gorilla were quite nice. The rest I could take or leave except the "Weird Beer" (this one with Ardennes yeast) which tasted like rosemary to me. Turns out it has sage in it. No thanks. I also got a laugh out of the growler pricing. Seriously, whatís the point of getting a growler when it costs MORE than the equivalent amount of pints at the bar (at least until you use the growler enough to make the price of the glass negligible)? Remember: part of the reason your bar charges $5 per pint is because youíre cleaning the glass for us, pouring it for us, and cleaning up the counter after leave. I will continue my boycott of growlers. That said, I wish these guys well. Theyíre also right around the corner from Monkish which is cool.

Industrial park brewery within two blocks of Monkish. Medium sized tasting room. Parking out front or on the street (shouldnít be bad unless it is a special event). Some seating. Mixed and matched brewery equipment with room to grow. Two lagering tanks which you donít see often in SoCal craft breweries. Beers seemed to be mostly from his days brewing at Tustin (I am not entirely sure any of the beers I tried were actually brewed on premise). The beers were solid as usual from him. I also confirmed with him that he hasnít gotten any barrels since leaving Tustin, so it will be a while till we see more of his sours (Quercus Circus is a pretty solid beer). Beers served by the full glass, $2 tasters or to go in a pretty snazzy looking growler. Another good addition the the growing number of Torrance Breweries.

Just down the street from Monkish. Decent sized tasting room with a small bar and some scattered seating/standing tables. Very open space with the brewing equipment at the back. Beers were pretty solid for the most part, but I already knew that from having these beers at Tustin. All beers available for $6 in varying sized pours or $2 tasters. Looking forward to seeing what these guys crank out in their new space.
