62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 11/20 SpringsLicker (120) Tennessee | September 18, 2012 Clean place with a good selection. Being a little out of the way for many, you may find something here that has become scarce in all of the other major Knoxville places. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 teemorton (10) Louisville, | August 3, 2009 Bright clean safe store. Knowledgeable staff. Always carry everything available. Always cheaper than McScrooges. Best place to shop in South Knoxville. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 lithy (156) Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania | June 30, 2009 About as good as McScrooge’s but could be out of the way depending on where you are coming from. One of the best over six selections in Knoxville. | 54 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 10/20 gsteph (12) knoxville, Tennessee | March 17, 2008 Decent selection. DFH, Chimay, some Rogue, Mendocino, Westmalle, Unibroue, a few italian saisons, and Great Divide. Great for the area and close to home for me. McScrooge’s has the same selection but with a few others. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 NachlamSie (447) Tennessee | November 29, 2007 Smoky Mountain Wine and Spirits is one of the larger liquor stores in Knoxville. It is located conveniently on 441 on the way into town from the east. They devote a decent amount of space to beer and have most of the stuff that comes through. I’d say McScrooge’s is the only store that clearly has a better selection, maybe Turkey Creek. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 tronraner (109) Walland, Tennessee | October 16, 2007 This is a pretty cool place. Convenient near the intersection with John Sevier Highway... They get some of the beers that don’t show up at all the other stores. I bought a Double Bastard here, actually. Staff seems at least reasonably knowledgeable. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 nearbeer (165) Knoxville, Tennessee | August 20, 2007| Updated June 23, 2010 Typical Knoxville liquor store, with 50 or so high abv (6%+) micro and import beers sold singly. DFH, Mendocino, Great Divide and maybe 10 others by the four or six-pack. Staff knows where the beer is located, which is better than most. They also keep about a dozen or so of the micros in a cooler display case. They have (for a while now) a giant (maybe 3L ?) Corsendonk that looks like it will age nicely and end up being given away for a song to some lucky customer. One thing I’ve noticed also is that whenever McScrooges gets a new beer, it usually shows up here too. Update June 2008: This store has been slowly getting a better selection of beers (maybe 75-100), as has McScrooges in West Knoxville. The staff also has now tasted many of the beers and can even tell you about them! |
