86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 stoutpark (40) , Italy | March 22, 2013 The place is really cool, the tap room is big and the beers are really good. 7 different beers on tap and a lot of barrels where they age beers, impressive brewery! | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 GMCC2181 (66) Newark , Delaware | January 24, 2013 For a tasting room this place is pretty cool. Large open space that is right next to all the brewing equipment. Which looked large and brand new. 10 beers or so on tap all which were tasty and reasonable price wise. Bartenders were friendly and knowledgable. Lots of room to hang out and just relax. The only knock on them is was the price of growlers.... The glass was expensive and the fill up were as well. Overall: Cool place | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 20/20 Schmaltzy (2) California | October 22, 2012 This place was awesome. Located in Kerney Mesa area off of Clairemont Mesa in the middle of San Diego. They had 7 beers on tap, 3 Belgian, 3 IPAs and a imperial stout. For $7 I got a 3oz pour of each and was very impressed at all of the beers, for only being open for 5-6 months this place is tearing it up. I expect more good things to come from this brewery, especially the sours. I’m glad they won’t be doing any BA stouts, too many people jumping on that bandwagon. I was told the only thing going into barrels are their sours, which I am looking forward to drinking in a year. Kevin was the bartender and he did a great job giving me quick descriptions of each beer while dealing with a tour bus of about 20 guys by himself. The place is awesome, plenty of space to expand, tables and stools with enough seating for 40+, decor that matches their theme, nice wooden bar, clean bathrooms and food trucks on Fridays and Saturdays. All in all I was very happy that this place opened, now I don’t have to drive all the way to alpine for a great IPA... Thanks Societe. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 iacopino_IpA (71) , | October 18, 2012 Very nice brewery near Mira mesa, when i went there they had 6 beers on tap including a nice The Butcher and a nice stout i can’t remember the name. I liked so much this place and the guy who served me was very helpful and we also talked a little bit about their beers. A little bit high prices for the growlers, if they put it on sale i take a plane and i come over right now ;-) | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 womencantsail (391) Garbage Grove, California | September 16, 2012 Really surprised by how huge this place is. Massive brewing, barrel, and fermenter space to one side with a large bar and seating area as well. They had 7 beers on-tap (4 IPAs and 3 Belgians). Prices for the flights are a little high, but I believe they involve a keep the glass option. Staff was friendly enough and service was fairly quick. Growlers are obscenely expensive, though. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 cbkschubert (43) BFE, Arizona | July 13, 2012 I arrived about 10 minutes before they opened the tasting room. It only took 2 minutes to get there from O’Brien’s. The first thing I noticed was there was plenty of parking. A rare thing in SD at times. It’s located in an industrial park, so it kinda helps to know where you are going. The tasting room is huge and open to the brewery. It has several tables and a large bar. There is also a large barrel room that is visible from the tasting room. They had 7 beers on tap. No food. The samples were sold as flights for $3 each. Considering the size of the pour, it was a good deal. All seven beers were solid. I especially like the Imperial Stout. The employee working the tasting room was quite friendly and talkative. Looks like these guys are doing it right. Looking forward to the day they distribute in AZ (currently they self distribute in the SD area only). We will be hearing a lot from these folks. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 BMan1113VR (306) Los Angeles, California | May 28, 2012 A brand new brewery in the growing Mira Mesa Brewing area. Close to Obrien’s and on the other side of Miramar from Alesmith, Green Flash, Ballast Point, Hess, White Labs and Rough Draft. Quite the big brewing space, small patio, really long tasting room with a wooden bar and a good looking tap wall setup. Only two beers on when I stopped by, but they have room for at least another 10 more. Doug and Travis are the owner/brewing pair. They know their beer and take great pride in it. The other staff members are quite knowledgeable as well. They have stainless steel growlers which are pretty awesome, but also somewhat expensive (albeit the refills are not too pricy). Beers so far are solid, and I’ve gotten a sneak preview of the next two (one of which is absolutely stellar!). Lots of passion here. Tons of barrel racks for the upcoming barrel program. Talking with Doug and Travis, I find myself in nearly full agreement with their brewing philosophy. They have a strong base to work with, and I see them succeeding quite well. Just wish the brewery was a bit closer. |
