Great place to go after hacking at the FDR golf course. Nice beer selection on tap and bottles that you can make a six pack of. Was surprised the first time I went there they had Avery Maharaja Imperial IPA on tap which started my love affair of the beer. Nice everyday atmosphere that is un-centercityish. Great veggie burger.

Very cool mellow and relaxing neighborhood bar. Decent beer selection and a cool small menu. Prices are fair and service is awesome. Iíd love to come back for brunch.

Only ended up here on Thanksgiving night because it was features on a Philly list of what was open and man am I happy we made the trek (well actually a nice 5km walk down Broad street with nice weather). The place was fairly empty when we arrived with just some people sitting at the bar and I would just say that if its cold or hot maybe stay away from the main entrance as there is quite a draft when the front door opens up. There were two servers / bartenders who knew their stuff quite well and we received excellent service although I can see how if it was busier they could be overwhelmed if there was nobody else. The tap selection was limited although featured some locals that I had never even heard of including an actual full barrel in the middle of the room from which beer was poured which was a first for me. There is a fridge with a fairly diverse selection, some things that are a little harder to find (like Parabola), all at decent to somewhat expensive prices, and all available to go. All of that being said YOU HAVE TO GO HERE FOR THE FOOD - IT IS FANTASTIC!!! All reasonably priced and everything was excellent to mind-blowing. Shared plates like the hummus, goat-cheese mushroom toast, and boar tacos were great with the brussel sprouts being among the best veggie dishes I have ever had; the burger was possibly the best I have ever had but be mindful that even if you order medium it will probably come more on the rare side. And the desserts then took things to an entirely new level with the fried PB&J sandwhich being unique and tasty without being greasy (recommend sharing amongst 4) and the ricotta filled donuts surpassing pretty much everything else. The service was actually very good the entire evening which may have been helped by when we went and I actually found things quite reasonable considering what we ordered and how long we were there. We almost went back here again the same weekend even though we had other places on our list to visit and I would recommend this as a must for anyone in Philly.

This is a really cool place to hang out. It a bit out of the downtown district, so you get much more of a local crowd. The tap handles are all mini chalk boards which is fun and innovative. They have a beer cooler for bottles next to the bar. We went two nights in a row when visiting town.

Cool place. Hit this for my bachelor party. Had wings and raw oysters, solid. Selection was decent but nothing crazy. Drank Deviant Daleís on tap, solid. Would go back again.

Beautiful corner bar in South Philly that on most evenings has a good bar and dinner crowd. The bar area has an open feel to it even when crowded. Beer selection is above average, and always good local brews on tap in addition to craft beers from around the country. Service at times can be off, when the place is busy some of the Hipster-Doofuses on the staff just canít hack it. Plenty of comfort food on the menu and I like the goblets they serve the beer in as well. My buddies and I like to use the bar as a jump off point for attending events at the stadium area. You can park near the SPTR for free, and then walk to Broad & Snyder to take the Broad Street Line to Pattison Avenue (aka AT&T) stop.

Large selection of rotating taps. How often do they rotate? The beer names are written in chalk on the tap handles.

Bar ambiance. Slow service. Decent tap and bottle selection. Ok, overpriced food. A bit over-priced for what it is. Not likely to return.

Nice place in south philly good ambiance and look, music playing, friendly and a staff that knows their beer. The tap list was a nice mix of local and some nice cali ipaís $5-$6 bucks a 12oz to 16oz and happy hour was half off local brews .... Menu was limited but a nice mix had the cheesesteak sliders which were delicious. Check out the bottle shop/coffee shop down the next block that has almost all of their bottle list but just about half the price. All in all SPTR is definitely worth a stop in.
