My favorite boozer in London bar none. Once you step through the door itís like youíve entered a slightly parallel universe somewhere around the period between the two wars. So the selection isnít going to beat the likes of Craft Beer Co but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. If you like cask beer you arenít going to care anyway. As most people have said it does get very packed so try to time your visit earlier in the day if you can. You wonít regret it.

One of Londonís best pubs, possibly no.1. Always a remarkable selection of real ales and ciders. The roast pork baps are to die for. A very mixed clientele locals and visitors of all ages. Good friendly bar staff who also have to change the vinyl records (of all styles) every 20 mins or so even when itís busy in the evenings. No keg (except for Camden Helles and Ink) or foreign beers Iím afraid. I love the sign at the bar saying all produce sold is from small independent producers - which sums this venue up.

Very cosy but small old school Pub. But visiting early afternoon we had the pub more or less at our own. Excellent selection of casks, including Dark Star, Fyne, etc. 2 kegs aswell, Camden and Howling hops. Good conditions of the beers.Very freindly and knowable service. Had a pork roast sandwich for lunch that was really good. Will love to go again. Good value for money

Beautiful little pub, an amazing range and really helpful staff. An interesting mix of locals, celebs and tourists drink here giving it a really interesting ambiance for such a small little venue.

Cracking pub - only issue being that itís often rammed. The bar kind of backs on to the seating and itís often a real squeeze. However, if you visit at a slightly less busy time then itís 10/10 - awesome selection of real ale and real cider, nice sausage rolls and meat pies, decent music, nice staff and decent prices.

Visited several times, and I just love this place :-)
For the beers, the ciders, the cosy atmosphere, the friendly staff and off course for the lovely old, black dog that from times to times are around the pub, and know where the sausages are :-)
Always a huge range of beers, mostly in good condtion, and a great selection of traditionel ciders, from smaller cider producers, as well.
Can at times be a bit crowded, but then you can use the small beergarden in the back.
They donīt do food, but they have some lovely bar snacks thats worth a try :-)
For sure a pub worth visiting...

We visited here yesterday Sunday 31st March 2013, just me and Loz. The bus 214 we caught from nearish Old Fountain stopped right outside the pub (bargain!) This is a lovely little pub, a real treat, wonderfully simple decor, all old wood, old wooden tables and bench seating along with wooden chairs, a really lovely looking charming old place. The beer selection was mostly localish microsí I had a Notting Hill ruby red to start with and Loz had a Stiff Upper Lip, we then both had a Buxton Jaw (something) before I finished with a lovely Wilkins cider, Loz had another Buxton, but would probably have had a Dark Star Six Hop had I have realised it was just going on after Iíd already ordered. This is a very friendly place, the sort of pub where you share a table with others. Food choice was very simple but looked good, I saw some very decent looking Pork Pie amongst the offerings. We sat near the front window but getting a seat was tricky in here and we were lucky. I really liked this place and warmed to its charms the longer we stayed, ok so there are better beer choices about I donít doubt, but this seems to get everything right and ticked all of the boxes for me.

Great local boozer 7 or 8 minutes walk from Kentish Town (Northern) or 3 minutes from Gospel Oak (LOROL).
Largeish single roomed boozer from around the turn of the last century, joanna in the corner, bar carries around 10 to a dozen cask lines and 5 or 6 keg taps which also carry decent offerings. Plenty of emphasis on local London micros but Iíve also hit on things like a Tempest offering on tap.
Great hot pork rolls available!
Clientele is largely locals, plus the odd beer geek as itís well worth a visit here.
Saw Trigger (Roger Lloyd Pack) on my last visit here if you like to spot famous folks. He ordered two halfs - wonder if he was rating !!!
Great place, gets busy fairly early so if you want a table on a Friday best get there before 5ish.

Straight out of Dickens or Potter, the hellishly crowded Southampton, condensation dripping off the ceiling into your pint. Old bird banging the joanna dementedly in the corner. Standing room only, wedged contortedly beneath the coat hooks trying vainly to extricate your phone from your pocket, buffeted relentlessly by the toilet-going public. No respite or room in the backyard to move your elbows to rate, so forget about it and get the Dark Stars in. Visited November 2012 before Bobby Womackís gig at HMV Forum. The most atmospheric London pub Iíve visited to date, with about the most impressive cask range.
