Stopped in while in town for New Years. Smallish but solid selection of brew including lots of Port and Lost Abbey (Older Viscosity...yum). Some Utopias behind the counter for $210. Grabbed some JW Lees aged in some barrels I havenít had before. Worth a stop if you are downtown but nothing to go out of your way for.

Figured this could use a new, updated rating. As indicated in Benís first rating, the beer selection at Sparrow has improved quite a bit since early 2012. Regular offerings from Port/Lost Abbey, Maine Beer Co., some Anchorage stuff too. They also have some stuff you may not expect to find around town, like things from Terrapin, Voodoo, and The Lavery. Prices are generally pretty good around here. Nothing wrong with some Cuvee Rene 750s for $10. I wouldnít necessarily call this a Hoboken beer destination just yet, but itís really close to where I live and I hit it up every so often.

this is the wine and booze shop, go to theyíre other place for beer. decent looking place with stuffy help just like the other spot. sometimes they have more beer than other times. once in a while they get an eccentric employee who is a bit talkative. you never get a receipt unless you ask for it. and the price plus tax doesnt add up wether you do 7% or 3.5%.

Now that they FINALLY decided to start caring some decent beer offerings, and claim (Iíll be skeptical until I see it) that their beers/beer singles selection is going to grow quite a bit more over the coming months, I decided it was time to add this location of Sparrow to the database. It isnít a great beer store yet, but the improvement over the last 6 months is certainly noticeable. Worth a stop if you are in the area and in search of decent beer, but definitely not a destination.
