Great location, great value and great service here. Beautiful on the patio in the sun overlooking the water. The beer is all very English and the food is average pub fair but this is all about location here.

So, this Canadian classic would obviously be at the roots of the English-inspired beer culture that still dominates BC landscape. Fortunately, they still make some pretty good English-style beers although they tend to add more hops than the typical British pint under the American influence. At the same time, they also were maltier and fairly sweet, so I guess it balances it out. That American influence also pushed them to produce a sturdy IPA and strong dark ales among other things. Yet despite the solidity of their English ales, I was surprised that their Weizen was so good, showing a versatility that honours them. The food menu contains a lot of attractive plates, varied and focusing on local ingredient sources as much as possible and it seems that this is a recent change which has brought a significant mark-up to the menu’s price tags. Still, as a casual visitor, I was not shocked by the prices although we did not eat a full meal here. We nevertheless had a tasty soup and a decent cheese plate where raw milk would have been welcome. As for the premises, the building has a superb terrace from which you can catch glimpses of the bay leading downtown. being located over a hill, the terrace is a nice spot, looking perhaps more distinguised than the rest of the pub which is in reality a large multi-roomed house with authentic wooden furniture aplenty. The kind of house in which you feel like peaking at every room and taking full advantage of its nearby greens and water with large windows. Service was excellent, very professional and caring on our visit. They seel a few bottles to go and breweriana.

Nice location, pleasant walk from downtown. Went there for the Friday night special cask tapping, was gone by the time we arrived at 6. Trying too hard on the food- straying from pub food and failing miserably. Beers mediocre at best. There are better places in town for a good pint.

This was a pleasant clean pub with decent british style beer and some good pizza.

Daily cask just $5 a pint. Can’t beat that. Food used to be a lot better and is now hit or miss. Having said that, their pulled pork nachos are the bomb and you’re depriving yourself if you leave without picking up a few of the best chocolate truffles in town. Beer selection and quality is second to none.

As I visited the place on a warm summer day, the patio with view on the bay is fantastic. They have many beers on tap, some are offered on draught, in bottles or hand-pumped, so it’s just up to the customer to choose; and this also means that for some beers it’s possible to have less carbonation and less cold temperature; on top of this, they are very flexible and sell samplers by the glass (not forcing to have by group of 4 or 5 glasses).

My favorite stop during my day trip/ beer tour of Victoria. Right out on the harbor, so it’s cool to sit out on the deck. Lots of beers to taste and most were quality beers.

Nice place on the edge of Victoria. Quiet neighborhood and a pretty quiet bar (which for me is great). Service was OK. Pretty good range of beers--some really good, some not. Food was decent but a bit pricey for what you get.

Great place with a great view. Lots of wood as expected on the inside. There are 2 pool tables and 2 dart boards that are not crowded by chairs, which is awesome. The menu had typical pub food and some nicer options as well. The cheese and beer pot was incredible. We enjoyed a beer flight of 4 good sized beers for something like $10. Excellent service as well. Great place to visit when in Victoria.
