First time I went to Spuyten Duyvil was sometime in January on a Saturday night. The place was packed and I felt like a sardine in a can. Itís a tiny place and when itís packed it can be annoying. Went again in late June on a Sunday afternoon and boy what a difference. The outdoor section was open and we had a few beers outside. Nice set-up. Good selection. Would recommend anytime except on a Saturday night!!!

When I visited: Late September 2013.
What I had: an imperial IPA on tap and a glass of sauvignon blanc for the lady.
What I liked: Despite the small size of the bar we were able to grab seats right away.
What I disliked: In keeping with the obnoxious service and atmosphere thereís no sign for this place so initially we walked right past it. Once inside we couldnít see the draught or food menus so we had to ask the twit working the bar, who was more interested in talking down to us than actually explaining what was available. We reluctantly ordered one drink, passed on the food options (most of which we couldnít pronounce), and rushed over to Barcade, where the night was salvaged. IMHO the suffocating pretension and sleazy hipster vibe of Spuyten embody everything that craft beer is NOT about, and you couldnít pay me to come back here. Avoid.

Great beer bar in Brooklyn. High quality selection with a few surprises. Nice shaded outdoor area outback.

Not a massive selection, but this is a great bar for a friendly visit of like minded beer geeks. Very friendly.

Walked across the bridge, had some fresh pizza and ice cream, and then walked over to enjoy some beers. The list was impressive although not as crazy as I thought it would be; was also pricey. However like the eclectic/hipster atmosphere (probably because it was mostly empty), service was top notch, and enjoyed relaxing and enjoying some beer.

Visited in May 2012.
First off, the name and the address arenít on this place anywhere. Actually, the only indication of the address is on the mail box. Second, the prices are out of control. $60 for a Vigeronne 750... But that is all (mostly) forgiven by the fact that the selection is awesome and so is the area in the back. The bar is small and I could see this place getting packed during peak hours but outside, under the large trees, there is plenty of room. Cool place and I would return if in the area if I wanted something the other bars in the area didnít stock.

Wonderful, original, eclectic craftbeer bar that is a destination in and of itself. I highly recommend a stop here when visiting Brooklyn craftbars...but definitely worth a special trip alone. I gave them a 14 out of 15 for selection...not for quantity (this isnít a Yard House) but for quality...for unusual and hard to find selections. The decor is very much like an antique store...maybe even an oldtime hardware store. There is a really nice courtyard out back too. The food choices are great. They include cheeses...meats...pickles...olives, and the like...all of the highest quality (if you need something more substantial...go to Fette Sau nearby for amazing BBQ). The place is filled with regulars (locals who realize how lucky they are to have a place like this in their neighborhood) as well as craftbeer explorers like myself who will read about a place like this and search it out. I recommend you do the same!

Visited here just the once in March í10 on a Brooklyn pub crawl.
Nice little bar with a well thought out tap and bottle selection. Big Belgian/overseas influence on the bottle selection, which I knew would be the case - but not what Iím particularly looking for in the US but Iím sure is great for others.
Had a small cheese plate which was tasty.
Good vibes and service.
