Traditional pub which was really crowded the evening we’ve paid a visit. Not extensive selection of casks, but among them there were some good brews. Not a bad place to stop for a pint.

This is a top, top pub in Glasgow. CAMRA pub of the year 2012 and 2014 you know it’s going to be good. They regularly get special beers from Oakham and Fyne Ales (plus others) which makes it a real destination.

The State is located but a couple of minutes walk East from the Bon Accord bar. It is a very traditional looking boozer with a central island bar. Has a good local feel to it. They offer a small, but interesting range of cask ale - both Scottish & English. On my visit they had a double IPA and a black saison, which were not too shabby at all. Service was prompt and friendly. A worthy stop on anyones pub crawl in Glasgow.

Welcoming pub atmosphere with different kind of people flocked around a large island bar with a few sets of cask ales, all together seven different hand-pumps, including a house beer from Houston. A stylish and likable pub, very busy and joyful late on a Friday afternoon. (visited 13.04.2012).
To sum up my pub crawls in Glasgow: A ratebeerian should definitely do the JDW crawl – no other town has got so many Wetherspoons as Glasgow, I guess. If not that interesting, the two brewpubs, West and Clockwork, are worth a visit. My best list would be 1)BrewDog Bar 2) Bon Accord 3) Three Judges 4) Bruadar and this one – 5) the State Bar.

Not the best selection of beer, but has good service and a lovely big oval bar. Has a lot of TVs so might be a good place to watch sports.

Old looking ale house. Small sittingplaces. A bit too sportminded and unsocial. Selection is not that outspoken.

Some real ales available. Old wooden interior with the bar positioned in the centre, which I like. Atmosphere was a bit quiet on sunday afternoon. Supposed to be very crowdy at other times though.

Traditional Scottish Bar off Sauchiehall Street. Sky sports on multiple TV screens. In evenings very busy with mixed clientele, a lot of them work locally and the atmosphere is vibrant. Quiet during the day and staff who are very knowledgable about beer have time to talk to you. Good selection of beers (mainly Scottish) which are reasonably well cared for. Worth a visit and is across the street from The Hengler’s Circus. Also is only a few minutes walk from The Bon Accord.

Visited 2/07/09. 7 real ales were on offer, a mix of Scottish (including Houston, Inveralmond and Stewart) and English (Tring, Bank Top). Bar staff were friendly and prices were lower than at any of the other real ale pubs we visited in Glasgow.
