This place rocks! Jan was off the day I was there, but it did not matter. Karen and Mike were incredibly helpful. The selection was awesome. So many beers that are not available in IL and certainly not Georgia. Lots of super small Wisconsin breweries. New Glarus, Tyranena, Capital, Central Waters, Furthermore, Sprecher, Cross Plains, Lake Louie, Lakefront, among others. Mix a six was also very nice!
Location on Madison’s Westside, conveniently located off Highway 14 and just a 2 hour drive from Chicago’s Northern Suburbs.

Great store. Good (not great) selection of imports. Can mix singles of select beers only, but they mix it up very well. Seem to rotate stock very well. Wisconsin is well represented, and they have lots of Bell’s products. Have a fantastic selection of artisinal cheeses, esp. Carr Valley (one of the best in the country). Excellent wine selection (their forte). Staff is more knowledgeable of wine than beer, but their service is usually excellent.
Nice store, friendly knowledgable staff and a great selection. Only about 50 minutes away from me so it ie well worth the trip. They have most all of the Wisconsin brews, Bells, DFH and Goose Island . They carry some FFF and a lot of rare Belgians.

This place is AWESOME!!! If you want rare beers this is the place to go. Lake Louie, Central Waters, New Glarus, Tyranena etc. Rare Dogfish Head. A nice Belgian selection and much more. The gal that was working (might have been Jan) was incredible. Very friendly and incredibly helpful. Seemed like she was ready to talk BEER for hours. If I would have had the time I would have done so. This is a 2.5 hour drive for me but I think I will be making this trip many many times.
Stopped by here on my way to Iowa from Wisconsin. Found many beers here that were not available in Iowa at this time. Bells Expedition, Dogfish Head 90, Great Divide Oak Yeti, Alpha Claus and others. Not many foreign beers but a lot of good domestics expecially Wisconsin beers. Definitely worth a trip. Staff was very helpful. Recieved a 10% discount on some bottles. Still no mixing of 6 packs.

This is my primary home for beer buying locally. Selection here is incredible - almost every Wisconsin micro is represented here (Viking, Central Waters, New Glarus) along with plenty of other micros. The best part of the store is in the coolers in back. Last time I was there, they had a great selection of the more accessible Top 50 beers (Rocheforts, Abbey de Rocs) and plenty of bombers in almost every style.
The service people are exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. If you go, ask for Jan - she’ll know everything that is stock and it’s a great way to pass 15 minutes if you have the time. Definitely worth a stop while in Madison - you can swing by Woodman’s west side location too while in the area.
Stopped in to Steve’s Liquor the morning before GTMW. The service was excellent as both of the people working made sure I was helped and gave me some great suggestions on beers I should try. The overall selection is not as good as Woodman’s but there are some beers to be found here that I did not see at Woodman’s. Prices were a little higher here than I saw at Woodman’s. In a nutshell, this is the place to go to find what you cannot find in Woodman’s. Compared to the other smaller stores I visited in Madison this was the best.
I stopped in here on a business trip to Madison to pick up a couple good beers for the football game. I thought it was a pretty good selection, but I’m from out-of-State, so "good selection" means "beers I can’t get in NC." That is to say, I’ve been in beer stores with larger selections, but this was still pretty good. The prices, again, are relative, but there were many good beers for not a lot of money. The coolers are numbered for easy reference, and there’s a pretty good selection of wine and liquor just in case beer isn’t enough for the night. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and were familiar with the beers they did have. When I said I was from out of town, the guy became quite concerned that I be able to enjoy my beers, so he threw in a free bottle opener. A small gesture, of course, but one that will enusre my repeat business whenever I’m in town.
