2015-11-14. Came in around 10:00 on a Saturday and were told that we couldnít have a table because only one of our party of five was eating, but that there was "lots of room" by the bar. There was no room other than the walking path between the servers station and the tables. Facepalm. Nice spot, feels pretty cozy. Food and drink menus are decent, good selection of beer. Hostess was friendly enough but either deliberately misleading or a bit clueless. I liked the space but after a long day of walking we were not in the mood to constantly dodge servers and other patrons elbows when there were several empty tables so we didnít stay long.

Checked out Stoddardís for lunch midweek and was filling up with the lunchtime work crowd. Staff were polite and friendly and service was fine throughout my stay. I ordered a pint of Pretty Things IPA that tasted off but supped away at it anyway. In hindsight I should of sent that one back. French Dip sandwich with onion rings was solid and had me bursting at the seams. Overall a good experience but I found this bar didnít really click with me and not somewhere I would rush back to.

Easy location (as most pubs seem to have here in Boston). Pretty normal sports pub atmosphere. Nice and friendly staff, if a bit slow. Selection is narrow but sharp as a knife and the food, while somewhat simple, takes your tongue with it. The "french dip" sandwich was the best thing I ate all week. Minus for rigid serving sizes, but that is offset by the staff when theyíre willing to hand out tasters. Worth a visit!

Visited on 7/20/12 A: The place has a more upscale ambionce to it than your normal bar/resteraunt. It is nice for its location downtown and close to the Boston Common. Q: The quality of the beers that they have on tap and in bottle were decent. You arenít going to find any rarities but you will find a better than average beer at this place. S: The service was decent, pleasant but donít have a question about any of the beers because youíll get a blank stare in return. S: Decent Selection between the various styles and nice array of local brewers/ regional brewers/ US brewers. F: Food was decent but for the amount they are charging, it should be of better quality. V: Typical Over Priced establishment, paid 8.50 for a Pretty Things Quad, local beer. Food was way over priced for what you got in return. Overall, as a tourist, we stumbled into Stoddards because we were hungry and it was right there...but do your homework and youíll end up avoiding this place as there is better places to go close by.

Located in the old Stoddardís Fine Cutlery building between Downtown Crossing and the Theater District. Long room with tables upfront on one side and a long ornate bar in the back that crowds up after work. Service from the bar is attentive and helpful - offering tasters when asked. Plenty of taps to choose from (including up to 5 cask), with good variety but nothing truly out of the ordinary. On a recent visit found only one beer I hadnít tried before...Food was good, plentiful, and expensive. Burger ($14!) was great, and the onion rings tasted suprisingly like doughnuts. All in all a nice option for the area, good selection of taps, but overall quite pricey.
