So this is what the juggernaught that is SoCal craft beer looks like? No expense spared venue and interior (bloody unbelievable), informed staff to burn, seriously good food and 30+ beers from your own brewery on tap. I’ll pay $7 a pint every day of the week given the quality. Outdoors is awesome for the kids. The best food AND beer venue I have been to globally. Yep was my 40th birthday dinner but I won’t let this create any bias!

Visited for dinner on Friday 18/04/14 around 7.30pm.
About a 15/20 minute drive from downtown SD past the airport, Liberty station is an impressive place in the world of beer set amongst (I presume) old army barracks/stables/lodgeings.
The place was pretty busy as expected but there was only a wait for outside tables so we got seated inside straight away.
Tap list is super solid, standard Stone beers, one off Stone offerings for Liberty station, great guest taps - think Russian River, Alpine and the likes, all available as tasters = tickers paradise!
The bottle list was solid too with more Stone limited relseases inlcuding their 500ml specials.
The service was good but could have been a little better, a bit of a wait from ordering drinks to being asked for food and the guy was a little lazy in that we asked for a bottle of the Stygian Descent (BA black IPA) and he came back and told us it was out of stock. I asked if it was in the shop and he said they had sold out too (which was a dissapointment as I was really after this one). Turns out when we visited the shop there were loads of bottles, so this was a bit lazy ass on his part.
The food here was excellent, I had really good ribs to start and breadcrumbed pork breast for main.
The bottle shop is located towards the rear of the restuarant and carries most Stone offerings including specials, merchandise and also does growler fills (just standard Stone offerings I seem to recall).
In all this venue truly deserves to be called world class and I shall be back here like a shot on my next visit to SD!

This is probably the best beer-related place I have been to. Big place with seats and a bar both indoors and outdoors. 30+ taps with excellent beers. I visited three times in six days, and there were 2-3 new beers from Stone every time. I think I added six or seven beers to ratebeer, thats says something about the rotation on the taps. Great guest beers on tap as well and all the taps are available in tasters. A shop for bottles and souvernirs close to the bar, with a small but hugely interesting selecetion of rare Stone-beers. Service is really good and food was very tasty every time. Interior is beautiful and must have cost a fortune. Only setback is that I dont live near it...

You get what you pay for when you come to this world class bar. If you are unable to make it out to the actual brewery this is a close consolation prize. Located in a converted naval base it is expensive and includes a store, bar, outdoor bar, and probably other things that I missed.
As memory serves the draft list contained 20 options. All were excellent and included about ten Stone taps. Russian River, Monkey Paw, and other San Diego beers were also well represented. You can go for full pints or choose generously sized samples.
The food is world class although your wallet will come out of here lighter. Whether for lunch or dinner you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. If you want lighter fare there are also appetizers.
With plentiful parking and a few other stops in the area (such as Slaters 50/50) this is a nice place to stop. If I were ever back without access to transportation I would come back without a second thought. You should too.

Visited on 17th March 2014 for an afternoon session of 3 flights of four beers and a pint. Very impressed with the whole set up. We sat in the gardens, away from the water features and outside bar area. We then did a little tour of the inside bar, off sales and shop outlet. They certainly haven’t scrimped when it came to spending money on setting up this place. All the beers were fine and we ate off the ’Meatless Monday’ menu. My Tempeh Sheperds Pie was lovely, as was the wife’s Muchroom Penne Pasta dish. It is not a cheap place to eat and drink, but we thought it good value for the service, ambiance and quality of produce.

Having visited the main location a few days ago I was intrigued to see if some of their other locations lived up to the main one. A bit hard to find, only a very small sign out front hints at what is inside the building. Once we found the entrance we checked out the small store right inside the door, some pretty nice swag and bottles in there. Once we got to the bar area it was pretty similar to the main location, with a bit more plane noise. Atmosphere was pretty laid back but it was mostly dead at lunch time so nothing to amazing. Service was awesome. Our bartender was great to talk to and never let my glass sit empty for more than a minute. Quality was pretty high all around. Beers in the correct glasses and the building itself was beautifully renovated to fit their needs. Selection was even better than the original location. I know they just had their winter storm event a week or so ago so I can only assume I encountered some of the leftovers. I was able to get a StoneWall, one of my long time wants, and a ’08 Old Guardian aged in red wine barrels. They also had a few other leftovers but we had other places to be. Food was excellent as usual. I got the pulled chicken and boar sandwich and it was awesome. Also got to try some of the BBQ ribs and they were excellent as well. Prices on beers were pretty good, food was again a little overpriced but it was quality so thats not a huge deal for me. Overall I think I might prefer this place in almost every way over the main location except the overall vibe. I will have to return for dinner next time I am in town and see if it is any better then. Still an awesome place to have a beer and avoid some of the usual crowds that frequent the main location.

We visited this new Stone brew pub on 24th of December 2013. It opened in May of 2013 and is, as expected, just perfect, typical Stone style. Inside very dark with a great bar, stones are used to deliver the Stone atmosphere, a large metal plate with the Stone Arrogant Bastard just makes it Stone like. On the right side you can see the small brewery. On the left side they have a Boccia lawn. The real attraction is the garden, greatly designed with small fountains, many stones and two bars, just perfect. They brew there own beers here in much smaller batches and the sortiment is changing frequently. We had a Stone Witty Moron - a black witbier and a Racer X from Bear Republic, they have a great guest beer selection mainly from California breweries, great!

The original review I wrote was whipped because of length and I couldn’t get it back. Here’s my 2nd try...
I have been to many many brewpubs, as I am in the travel business and have been a home-brewer from a home-brewing family for nearly 25 yrs.
This is the highest rating for me, for brewpubs so far.
Ambiance is awesome: take your pick as they have something in every category.
Service was without question incredible; i.e. no need not attended to.
Except for the incredibly odd and delightful bathrooms (yes you have to see it to believe it), I was always offered immediate assistance for my brewpub needs.
The selection changes constantly with the sheer volume of numbers, but in no way was I disappointed - and I didn’t even glance at the bottle selection, but from what my neighbors were ordering it really looked exceptional. All the Stone selections I wished to try from the Stone website list were gone. But the other SoCal selections were great.
The food selection impressed considerably with a a choice of Vegetarian, can be made Vegetarian or Vegan label on applicable items.
An exceptional place for an evening out for beer.
