Hard place to find. Best to turn on the road that’s to the right of the ’Matrix’ building and then go back. Tasting room is in a garage-like room that might be able to hold 20-30 people; it’s not really big. 10 taps available. Flights of 6 for $6. Had a great time chatting it up with the other customers.
Small tap room located inside a large building in an industrial / commercial zone, surrounded by grass fields, gravel parking lots, warehouses, tractor trailers, and a softball field out across the main road. Approximately 8 taps, only two of them interesting to me: Session IPA and 8% "Saison", both of average quality. It seems strange that with so much space available, the tap room has no outdoor seating, no picnic tables, only a small and dark corner room with uncomfortable bar stools and high-tops. Pretty odd to find that this is the top-rated RB place in Huntsville... give me a better setting, or better beer, but preferably both.
This place is set very far back, with no signs or address numbers visible from the road. Best to just follow your GPS, and when you’ve arrived pull in and head straight back, you’ll see some cars parked and some lights. Parking is plentiful, by the way. Tasting room up front has a long bar and a handful of tables. Flights of six five ounce samples are six bucks, what a deal. They do pints as well, and have a handful of bottles for consumption on premises or to take away. Friendly folks, fascinating clientele, from Ethiopian engineers to retirees, to sports network folks to dreamers. Fun place.
A little hard to find, its not actually on the road that the address indicates per se; its about a half block off. That being said, it is worth it to hunt around and find the place. I arrived about 3:30 and entered through the brewery itself. Found the tasting room and ordered a flight, which is any six beers out of the 9-10 they have on tap. Great price for that flight of only 6$. Staff was helpful, friendly and knew what they were talking about. Beers ranged from below average to pretty solid, and I avoided a couple in my flight that I have had and know to be pretty good (Lily Flagg and Unobtainium). Being a NASA dork myself, I like the space theme to their beer names and logos. This is a pure tasting room through and through. No food, no real attempt to spruce the place up, just a small bar a few tables, and a lot of STA memorabilia on the walls. I like it. Simple and too the point, totally lacking in pretentiousness. This is a place I would hang out if I were stuck in Huntsville.
