58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 11/20
A handful of doors down from Russian River and across the street from Flavor. Kind of your typical bar, maybe a touch divey. Locals just hanging out and having some beers, not really crowded. Tap list is pretty pedestrian with some Lagunitas IPA, Drakes regulars, etc. Nothing bad, but nothing you canít get at just about any bar in the Bay Area. Fine for just a watering hole, but not really a beer place.

A good little bar but not a place I frequent due to the density of very solid offerings in the area. Itís a true bar and is less "craft beery" than Russian River, Third Street or Flavor, and is comfortable place to be inconspicuous -- and with a few choice micros. Good prices.

This is, usually, a fairly quiet place compared to Third Street Aleworks and especially the Russian River Brewery. Itís small and cozy, and normally has with a good relaxed atmosphere. The food is a little different, with some Belizean influences and it is generally very tasty. Itíís a great place to go for Lagunitas fans, with several always on tap. Not only do they have the usual IPA, but they have the wonderful Censored, much harder to find on tap, and Lagunitas seasonals like the incredible Imperial Red Ale.

From out-of-town. I stumbled upon S.S., while on route to the Russian River Brewing Comp. Complete with soccer team flags, fooseball and a PUTTING GREEN!!, it was so appealing, I stopped in and stayed for some time. It was Wednesday night movie night and Kurt Russell was larger than life on a big screen tv starring in "Big Trouble in Little China." (Movie nights are every Wed. night starting at 7pm). A soccer match between the U.S. and Brazil was on another sizeable tv above the bar. The bartender (one of the owners, along with her husband, who was the chef of the evening) was happy to make big bowls of popcorn for our snacking needs. There were 5 flavorable Lagunistas on tap, along with some other basics like Guiness and Bass (etc.). They also had a large selection of wines (20?) which is pretty good for a beer bar and some interesting bottled ales. Both owners were extremely friendly and even offered to give me a sample of all the Lagunistas when I told them about "rate beer." Two customers at the bar stools next to me, told me they even sponsor their local club soccer team!! Conversation was lively and patrons were diverse and friendly. This would be a great place to meet people (esp. if single). My only criticism is that soccer was on tv. But Iím a football and basketball fanatic. This place was perfect to hang your hat for awhile and relax with friends. Check it out!
