One of the best Celtic pubs in the greater NYC area. Great decor (DJ in a pulpit - priceless!) and ambience, plenty of space and an excellent beer selection. Many styles on tap, cask ales, extensive bottle selection - all in addition to impressive whiskey and tequila choices. Service is friendly and informed, I only wish I lived closer!

Not the most exciting place in the city. I’d go a couple blocks north to the Jimmy’s/Burp Castle/Standings menage a trois. Decent selection, fun ambience, and a 100 year old bar or something.

Love the Swift. From a nice beer selection to a chance at a celebrity citing (William H. Macy anyone?) and a great ambiance, the Swift never dissapoints. Great bar for a beer on a cold winter’s night.

Nice little brown bar with a more-than-decent tap selection, even for New York. Everything I had was in superb shape and barman was prompt and friendly. They even serve a proper Pilsner Urquell, with the same level of foam as Czech pubs, and same freshness. They had great variety on the taps too, not just American, not just hoppy, strong and/or intense. All in all, a nice stop if you are in the area and feel like spending a cozy evening with quality brews.

One commenter said walking into this place is like transporting back in time 200 years and I see what they mean. This l,ae is narrow and dark and totally cool. The walls are full of exposed Brock and painted walls of old stuff. They have 25 taps and 30 or so bottles and most of it is of real quality. They have a nice mix of local, regional, national, and international craft. Prices are typical for the city but this is another great neighborhood spot.

Made a stop in here during a walk from the Blind Tiger to the Bowery Whole Foods. A somewhat dark place with some old wooden benches and tables and murals on the walls. Loads of old school character and fairly quiet. Not a giant selection, but lots of stuff that was worth drinking with a good number of local selections. Service was quick and attentive. I really liked this bar. I wish I could give more points for the ambiance; it was just such a pleasant place to stop and have a good beer.

This place is like walking back 200 years in time. Don’t look for TVs in this bar, but a great place for a large group in the back room or a couple of friends at the bar. Great beer selection here too, with a few hard to find brews and some great food.

Last stop on a warm summer evening and I think at this point beastiefan2k, JoeMcphee, rciesla and I had said goodbye to puzzl and feedmecookies and ventured out for one (or more) last beer. Really dark, and I seem to recall red, place which we ended up in the back room of at a huge wooden table. Beer list was good and the service was good as well. Strangely, I’d say this place is worth a stop just for the bathrooms alone. Or at least the men’s one, didn’t check the ladies. Seemed to be sort of a medieval dungeon with urinals. Just really odd. Another nice enough place that’s probably worth a stop if you’re doing a bar crawl through the area.

Great bar. Wonderful ambiance: wooden benches and tables, a nice bar with brass taps, a larger back room with more seating. Very good tap selection, ranging from American Craft to a few imports. For those people who desire foreign beers, Swift has a very decent bottle list. Bartenders are attentive and pretty knowledsgeable. I’ve had the food here a few times and it has been delicious each time. Prices are par for the Manhattan course, but certainly not exorbitant. Come to this bar to enjoy quality beers and the atmosphere, and grab a bite while you’re at it. Highly recommended.
