Visited October 2012.
This was the first stop of the Antwerpen bar hopping tour on our only day in the city. I knew nothing about this town aside from Kulminator but Iím glad that I was introduced to this place as well as a few other gems in my short stay there. From the outside itís very unassuming. Inside there are some fridges with a bunch of bottles and there are another dozen or so taps to pick from. Itís relatively dark in the day time and the only lighting really was coming from the outside. Ití was kind of a hideout. We ended up sitting next to another American who was waiting for a train while he drank a beer from a horn. Naturally we went for the ticks but some of them were good. They had some young lambic on cask which was my first experience with that in Belgium. The server was very nice to us. That may be because of who our tour guide was but Iím not going to hold my opinion of her country against her since she was nice. I would definitely come back if/when in Antwerp. Prices were about average.

Cozy bar just out of the center of the city. Friendly service, a nice selection of taps, and tons of bottles. Pretty good prices, and a good atmosphere both inside and out on the patio.

This nice little bar in a cobbled pedestrian street just off the Grote Markt has a traditional local feel and indeed there were several locals there; but with ten taps and its proclamation of ďmore than 200 Belgian beersĒ (in English) over the door it inevitably draws in beer tourists too. Had I known that the pair who elbowed me out of the way in their eagerness to be served were English beer tourists like me Iíd have had something to say but, alas, realisation came too late.
Itís quite dark inside but thereís an array of sparkling glasses behind the bar and hops on the ceiling. I sat at one of the tables outside sipping my draught Girardin lambic kriek (delicious!), listening to the tinkling of bells from the cathedral and wondering how ďíAllo ĎAlloĒ, which was on at the theatre cafť next door, translates into Flemish / Dutch.

Visisted on 26/09/13.
Decent selection of Belgian goodies with a dozen or so on tap and a few hundred bottles including a decent amount of Struise - although none of the rarities.
The place was pretty quiet for 2100 on a Thursday, one friendly local couple and their dog who I got chatting to at the bar, plus a few other blokes.
Service was fine, Kraddel manning at the - although he was far from stretched on this occasion. At least with him behind the bar youíll have someone to hook you up with something good if you want reccomendations.
I had Rodenbach Foederbier on cask which was a result!
Handy as a calling point prior to hitting Kulminator which is a 5 or 6 minute walk away.
Worth the visit.

We (me & Loz) visited here on Friday 7th February 2014. This is a great addition to the Antwerp beer scene that has cropped up since I was last here approxí 3-4 years ago. It is close to Gollem and has another couple of neighbouring bars close by also. The beer choice was excellent and prices seemed fine, I had a Emilisse BA Balsamico Loz had Orval (rather predictably :-) ) The place is long, thin and the bar runs much of the way down the left hand side as you enter, there are a couple of window tables and a few further tables beyond the bar in a small area at the rear of the pub. The beer list is impressive and you can imagine that this will be popular with beer geeks in a similar way that the Kulminator is. Kradel was serving whilst were there and aside from a smattering of others he hadnít got a great deal to do as it was early and therefore fairly quiet. Liked this place and will definately return to when next in Antwerp.

Dug this place. Kulminator was closed, so we went here and almost forgot about the former. Great selection, lots of interesting stuff including Rodenbach Foederbier! Tons of Struise, though that was more expensive than other beers. Overall reasonable and pleasant and we had a great time drinking lots of good beers.

Really a cool atmosphere with hops hanging from the ceiling. Great beer selection, though donít expect to find anything "rare" lambics or other whales here. No tourists (bonus!) during my visit. Worth a visit if youíre in Antwerpen.

With Kulminator closed this one became our best beer place after two days of pub crawl in Antwerpen. Bierhuiske is a rather small place located in the neighbourhood of Grote Markt and the Kathedraal. Has got a wide range of interesting Belgian bottle beers that you can pick directly from the fridges at the rear end of the bar. There was also have a take-away service. We were nicely served by a friendly and smiling barmaid who we also met at Elfde Gebod the next day. We enjoyed the beers, atmosphere, service and music from the 60s (Troggs, Kinks, Beatles etc). Should not be missed (Antwerpen, 28.04.2011).

Doesnít look like much, but itís actually a pretty nice place. The cramped, dark space is brightened by the friendly service and local banter. Apparently thereís often a nice selection of Struise beers, but we missed out on this occasion. The bottle list is a bit all over the place. Thereís some arcane ticks available alongside the usual Belgian selections. Some good Struise bottles graced the fridges. Value was fine. Overall, Iíll be back when Iím in the area.

A worthy beer stop on any Antwerp beer visit. Itís a fairly compact beer cafe located centrally with some outside seating. About 10 taps on offer, including one Struise (only Westoek mind you!). There was also some bag-in-box draft lambic. Bottle selection was varied and quite interesting. Although they didnít have much that I hadnít seen before I was more than happy drinking a Moriau gueuze. Coffee wasnít too shabby either. Worth a visit.
