Nice place with small but quite well chosen selection. I visited the place three times during my stay in Maastricht. Not a place for someone with long ticking history of Belgian and Dutch beers but if you want to have some nice brews while enjoying the nice patio then this is the place in Maastricht. I didn’t try the proper food. Their cheese plate was nice.
Beautifully located and characterful biercafé. Service is so-so. In a true biercafé, I’d expect something ’extra’ in the service. Something intangible that shows a passion for beer and that they want to share it. However, here we just got a menucard and we ordered. That’s it. For me, that is a regular bar or café. The fact that they have some 50 beers does not make the place a true ’biercafé’ for me.
I cannot comment on their food, as I did not eat there.

This must be one of the weirdest encounters I had in a beer bar.
I entered the place at noon, they were playing some kind of house music, very loud (!), some strange young folks inside and when I asked about beers and tasting glasses I got a short and rude answer and even before I could order something the barman just walked away.
Hardly have I been treated this rude and idiotic like I am stupid! Fuck I get angry again when typing this. Never again. Skip this place and go or to Frape or to Take One.

We visited here Wednesday 6th June 2012 it was the first bar that we visited in Maastricht. We sat outside though I did have a look at the inside. The beer list was decent but it is clear that there are also a good few beers in stock that are not on the beer list. I noticed a beer that I had never seen in the fridge downstairs and mentioned this to the landlord, he said I could have this if I wanted though he had a better beer to suggest for me to try which was not on the list, I took him up on his offer and had a very nice Peelander I think it was called. I had also had a Kriek Boon on tap, Loz had Orval. The service from the girl who initially served us and the chap who I guess is the Manager/Landlord was great, he liked to joke with you but was good fun. This place is also very close to Cafe Frape which is a 2 minute walk away on the same street but closer to the river and a little further from the bridge. You could go to this and Cafe Frape and not go anywhere else in Maastricht and be very happy. I would definitely return here again if in the area.
This is one of the best bars in Holland and is part of the ’Alliantie Van Bier Tapperijen’, which means ’the alliance of draught beer cafes’, more or less.
It has 12 beers on tap and 55 bottles to choose from, a mix of Dutch and Belgian brews. Gulpen is the house brew, I started with their Dort, very good!
Located on the banks of the river Mass, with just an outside drinking area, a road and bike rack away from falling in.
Lots of beery adverts and posters on the walls, 12 mini barrels sit above the long bar, each with the tap beers name on and the correct glass under, so you can choose by beer or the look of its glass. We knew the beers, so the glasses were of secondary interest.
The food selection is also impressive. We had the ’Abbey Platter’ to eat which was very good, ham, pate and cheeses from various abbeys with bread and salad bits.
All in all, a very good pub.
Located very central, close to the river. Interior is quite nice, the selection of beer is mainly Belgian, but good. Staff is fast but not overly friendly. Food is good for in a bar. In general not extremely special, but certainly a nice place to have a beer when in Maastricht.
Beautifully located on the banks of the Maas river, right across from the bridge to and from the railway station. If it’s a nice day you can sit outside and look out over the water. Inside the woodwork is beautiful. My favorite thing were the small barrels above the bar.
Selection is good as well, and they have the ABT beer of the month and some local ones.
They also give you a small dish of peanuts, something a lot of bars in Limburg seem to do.
