82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 Evilseed (11) , | April 19, 2013 This is a beer geek bar, period. The unique and hard to find beers have found their way onto these taps. The prices are steep, but you’ll pay a premium to imbibe on some of these exotic lovelies. The tap-room and patio are both great places to enjoy your brew with friends (or solo if you’re writing reviews)! | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 troubles (122) Tel Aviv, Israel | December 2, 2012 Visited during GABF week. Nice pub atmosphere with lots of wood. Good selection, knowledgeable staff. Has also sitting places outside and pinball machine is the basement. Good place. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 Steve_0 (87) Denver, Colorado | October 4, 2012 Cool beer bar in Old Town Fort Collins. I really like the interior because it feels "homey" to me for some reason. The tap list is pretty good with a lot of quantity and quality and the bottle list is good too. The service was great and out waitress was very attentitive. The food was mediocre, so I would suggest stopping here for beers and not the dinner. Arcade games and pinball in the basement and a nice little patio. Wouldn’t be my first stop in Fort Collins, but worth checking out just to see what is on tap. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 DiarmaidBHK (550) Pennsylvania | September 25, 2012 I thought for a Sunday afternoon when the place was dead because everyone in the state was at a bar watching the Broncos game, it was still a pretty good hang. They have a big tap list full of local and state wide craft. I only had the green chili soup but it was very flavorful and packing lots of heat. the place also has a patio and a basement with old school video games like Tron. The bartender was very personable and seemed to know a lot about the beer. I can believe this is one of the top spots in the state. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 14/20 SuperWhite92 (3) , Colorado | August 30, 2012 I want to like this place. Actually, I do like this place, but I’m not in love with it. I like the dark, quiet vibe, but it needs more beer signage and neon to make it feel more like a beer bar. Aside from that, tap selection is great, a nice, broad spectrum with a well-layed out menu. Beer is still on the pricey end of things, although since they opened, beer prices have only improved. Pull back pricing .50/pint to 1/pint depending on the beer, and I think they’d see better business. Food ranges from ok to great, and is extremely reasonable in price. Some servers in this place are awesome, (mostly the bartenders) but the wait staff usually leaves a lot to be desired. The whole credit card up front thing is weird too, at least when I’m there, (read: not late at night) since oftentimes I’m the only person in there. Overall, it’s a great place, I’ll keep drinking here, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt them to take another look at some of their policies and servers. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 tyler_mn (67) SLP, Minnesota | May 28, 2012 I loved this joint. Stopped in Ina Thursday evening and virtually had the place to myself. Extensive tap selection ~75 or so). No bottles... Yet, but my bartender (Chad) said that it was in the works. Sample pours available. I thought the food was great! Fried pickles and a brat were all that I needed. Chad was a very friendly, attentive and knowledgable bartender. Impressive selection. Shitload of locals, some limited and rare stuff and plenty of imports (Shelton Bro’s were very well represented). Maybe a bit pricey, but I know what they’re paying for the barrels. Long bar, plenty of tables, pinball and other games downstairs plus a decent sized outdoor patio. Work on the bottle selection and this joint will be top notch. | 48 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 2/10 OVERALL 2/20 fcbrew (2) Fort Collins, Colorado | April 8, 2012 The Tap and Handle is a former travel agency converted to a bar. The conversion was clearly done on the cheap. The atmosphere is dark and a little musty. There is an outdoor seating area with wooden picnic tables. The beer selection is pretty good with around 75 beers on tap. A friendly server informed us that a taste of any beer is $1. For $1 you get a half shot glass taste of their beers. We ordered a Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA and an Odell IPA. Both were poured short with a BIG head. Neither tasted remotely like the beers that we ordered. Both were essentially devoid of any hop aroma and both had a similarly unpleasant aftertaste. It tasted like VERY old beer. We politely advised the server that something was amiss and were referred to the manager who informed us that we were just unfamiliar with the way our beers should taste and she assured us that nothing was wrong with our beers. She made no offer to refund our money or to replace our beers with another selection. Needless to say, we will never return to the Tap and Handle.
