74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 knightdr (21) Valrico, Florida | July 22, 2008| Updated March 22, 2010 Nice beer/wine bar. Easily accessible location corner of Polk and Ashley in bottom level of Skypointe Condo hirise. Good draft and bottle selection. Had a Maudite, Chimay White on draft and another unibroue and a urthel hop-it in bottle. Waiter on Monday night lacking in beer knowledge and had to reorder beers at least twice. The spartan crowd became very big on Fri and Sat nights according to waiter. Monday night was good for beer drinking and talking. Enjoyed cigar on sidewalk area outside. Selection of drafts seems stale, nothing seems to get rotated. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 17/20 Sandman2222 (9) Florida | July 22, 2008| Updated March 22, 2010 Thanks to Kiefdog for going on the beer tour. A great new place in Tampa. Well stocked, upscale but not pretentious beer and wine bar. The selection was top-notch on tap, as well as in the bottle. The prices were a little high, but fairly expected with the clientèle that is going to be frequenting. I really enjoyed the Roast Beef sandwich, though their beer menu was what I really relished. For Tampa, a real great start in the right direction for beer lovers. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 kiefdog (118) Tampa, Florida | July 22, 2008 Visited on a recent weekday for lunch. This is a new restaurant/beer/wine bar in the SkyPointe Condo complex. Very bright, open appearance with modern decor. The seating area is broken into two smaller areas with the beer bar on one side and a wine bar on the other. Bar is neat and clean with a slate counter that seats 5-10 patrons with high-top and lower top tables nearby. Selection of draft beers on this particular day was fairly impressive with Blanche de Bruxelles, St. Bernardus Abt 12, Maudite, two Brooklyn beers, Chimay, Grimbergen Dubbel, Weihenstephan, and others. Bottle selection was also impressive with over 250 bottles in small coolers behind the bar and larger see- through coolers high above the floor. It took a little while to take in the selection. Check out the beer list, and I am sure just about anyone can find a tasty craft brew to enjoy at this place. The food was very good as well, more upscale than typical bar fare and just a little pricey for the amount served. But, nonetheless, the food that we ate on this particular day was pretty outstanding. We conversed with Brendon, the bartender, who was responsible for the beer list, and he really seems to know beer. So, this is definitely a welcome addition to the downtown Tampa beer scene. |
