Visited on Friday evening. Crowded traditional pub, good selection of local real ales. Not too interesting ones though. Just opposite of Berts Bar.

Couple of pints with Dickinson in here on a Monday night. Nice comfortable pub, relaxed atmosphere but still busy. Service was friendly enough, bar snacks decently tasty and well priced, didnít try the full menu downstairs. Good beer selection, 4 or 5 casks and several kegs, lagers and bottles. If there are 40 places better than this to drink beer then Edinburgh is a good beer city.

This is a rugby pub with an excellent atmosphere. Itís cosy with just enough room to squeeze past your fellow-drinker. There is a fair proportion of good ale drunk here, with some steady favourites. They could alternate a bit quicker but itís probably the case that theyíve found half a dozen that are really popular and theyíre sticking with it. Didnít try food!
