Let me start by saying up front that this place is stupid expensive, $14 for a bottle of St Bernardus 8? Give me a break. Okay, beyond that it’s pretty awesome. Food is great, beer selection is above average, people are super attentive and the decor has a nice feel. Go here when you’re not feeling like a cheapskate. A good choice if you’re on business expenses, ha!

Just around the corner from, and owned by the same folks as Monk’s Kettle. More food-focused and larger than it’s counterpart. Very cool open interior - high ceilings, lots of reclaimed barnwood. Many tables and a small-ish (maybe 10 seat) bar area where you can order beers and the full menu (plus a phenomenal Burger that’s only available if you’re sitting @ the bar). Great, focused selection, with several hard-to-find offerings available as bottle pours as well as the 24 taps. Well worth a stop in the Mission.

Cool place. Really awesome wooden interior and decor; different colors, patterns, etc. The food is a bit on the upscale side, though it looks delicious. The beer list is solid with a few interesting gems and a lot of just good options. Unfortunately, this place is ridiculously expensive. The beer I ordered was $10 for 6 oz...wat!? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since I later learned this is by the same fine folks behind Monk’s Kettle. A good restaurant, but one visit is probably enough for me.

I went here because the idea of a restaurant geared specifically toward beer and beer/food pairing sounded intriguing. I was surprised to find such a nice looking restaurant with such friendly and knowledgable service and, most importantly, delicious food. The pasta appetizer was a stand-out. I'm not even a dessert person, but the maple bread pudding was moist and delicious. Being able to pair that with The Bruery's Six Geese a Laying was a special treat. The only minor criticism: *one* scallop in an appetizer portion, really? (It was cooked perfectly, though!)

Great selection, but nothing you can’t get at other beer spots in the city and wider Bay Area for much less money. Their beer is SERIOUSLY OVER PRICED. Nice ambiance, average service. Didn’t try the food. Won’t be back.

I like the concept. Not a fan of their tap selection. Maybe too much horizontal wood on the walls for my liking. Food and beer were great though.

My wife and I had dinner here on a Monday night - not crowded at all. Terrific service and very good food. The beer selection was very nice, focusing on quality and variety over quantity. Interesting to me that they had both draught and big bottle pours. Though I have to say the some of the pricings were a little steep for the volume of the pour, compared to other places we’d visited. In all, this is a great place to have dinner and beer. There was a four-course tasting menu that looked very nice, in addition to the regular menu. Would go back.

Great place by the owners of Monk’s Kettle. Bigger and more high end...very nice looking. The food is exceptional...the beer is great...and the staff is welcoming. All and all this is a very great experience...definitely more high end than the Monk’s...doesn’t mean better...just different in a good way. Think of each place as built for a different purpose...one is an intimate spot for a few close friends or to go alone...the other is more of a group place...maybe business venue...but fun nonetheless. Try both and make your own decision.

A brand spanking new spot in the Mission District from the same owners as Monk’s Kettle around the corner. They appear to have spared no expense on the décor. Soaring stone walls, blonde coloured wood and polished aluminum/stainless steel throughout. High end and beautiful food (although really, really pricey) but the beer list is amazing. 24 taps and an extensive bottle selection as well. Some of the beer is quite pricy as well although there are more reasonable options as well (similar, I suppose, to Monk’s Kettle). They offer pours from the bottle selection which is also a nice option if you want to try from some of these. It’s another must visit spot on the ever-expanding SF beer scene, but you won’t regret the visit.
