Made reservations here a few weeks ago. Even with a reservation we had to stand outside while a bouncer radioed in our arrival. I donít mind but my wife doesnít care to be cold and having the place be 1/3 full when we got in definitely gave us a chuckle. We were served an amuse of house beer right away when seated, which was nice. Interior looks a little dated honestly. Also too dark with too much neon and bad electronic music. The beer list was great with some one offs and randoms Iíve never seen on a menu before. Iíd assume most people come here for the cocktails though, myself included. Although presentation was a big part of the show, the cocktails were all quite good. Food served that evening was split from the Trio menu which showcases Achatz back in 2003. It was nice to be able to order a black truffle explosion...and another. We also had a 2 ft tall pig skin, a bag of seafood, and some fried bite I forget. All of it was served/presented identical to alinea. Of the bites, the seafood pouch was tasty but odd. Just stabbing in the dark but Iíd say they just have a tray of these sous vide in the back. As far as value, well, itís expensive. Even with a bit of discount, 3 drinks and a few small bites set us back about $100 per person. At the same time, you canít really get this type of stuff too many places and the beer list itself didnít seem outrageous for Chicago pricing.

I used to have a high rating for this place, until I paid over $100 to attend the Pipeworks pairing. For the cost of $100, I got 1 oyster, one half of a beet, a small bag of chips, a chocolate, a pork rind, and (NOT KIDDING) I licked a flower off of a monocle. If you have a beer event during dinner (7PM-11PM) and say youíre serving food, then SERVE FOOD. None of this comes even close to what the head waiter was instructing his servers to do...They were walking around with open 750s, holding them like champagne bottles, and pouring beers ON TOP of other beers. They were mixing beers. WTF. $100?!?!?!?!?!? Our group of friends left and walked to Haymarket so we could order some food. WOW.
This is a really fun place to visit. Once. With a group of people. Willing to spend probably $75 each on appetizers and cocktails. Many of the cocktails are over $20. They are delicious and itís just as much about the contraptions and presentation as it is about the alcohol. I am rating this on Ratebeer because we ordered all 10 of the Evil Twin Aviary series, and our server was absolutely outstanding with his beer knowledge. As the previous reviewer said, please order cocktails here rather than beer, at least to start the night. We ordered the 10 evil twin collabs for a table of 5 after already having 2 cocktails each.

One of the best places around for cocktails and a bite. For beer they have 10 Evil Twin beers that are each from a different barrel. Iíve had them all, select a couple but no need to spring for them all. Donít come her for beer.

Okay, Iíll bite. Having been here, they do have a limited but well curated bottle menu. This is, however, a cocktail lounge. The place starts and basically stops at cocktails. If you go here, please donít look for beer and get a cocktail.
