This is a small Irish pub almost directly across the street from the New Hampshire state capitol building. What I like about it is that I, as a middle aged man who hates the bar scene, can go here and feel relaxed while getting decent beer and Irish-style food. There are usually 8 or 9 beers on tap with most of them being a bit better than average. Certainly they have their Bud Light tap to appease the masses but they also have Belhaven, Harpoon, Tuckerman’s and other beers in pints or half pints. Bottled beer includes Chimay, Brew Dog, and other quality beers. The bartenders are more than happy to tell you about their beer. The food is typical Irish pub fare such as Irish stew, burgers stewed in beer, fresh-cut fries served in metal containers, and salads. They contract with Harpoon, Long Trail, and other regional brewers to offer beer on tap under a "Barley House" label. Inside you will see a bar and a restaurant and often live entertainment. I tend to sit at the bar because I am often by myself. During the day you might run into some of New Hampshire’s movers and shakers such as State Senators, State Representatives, or even the Governor. When in Concord, NH check it out.

Stopped here while touring the State House and other historic sites. I had read about the place on this site and it is right across the street from the State House so had to go. Typical bar atmosphere in that its all dark wood and not well lit. Decent, but not outstanding beer selection. I had a Long Trail Imperial Pumpkin. What I did have was the best cheeseburger I have had in my 56 years of gnawing on meat. Worth a stop if you’re in Concord, but I don’t know if it’s worthy of being a destination.

Hung out here a few nights for my buddy’s wedding. The dinner for the rehearsal dinner was delicious; rare steak with a sweet sauce, perfectly cooked. A fair selection of beers on tap, with nothing amazing, but enough variety to have a few nice beers (Stone, Harpoon, Long Trail). After the wedding, we stopped in again for drinks and pub fare. The calamari were absolutely delicious, and the chicken wings and pizza were pretty good too. Our wedding party completely took over the downstairs area, which has its own bar area and leather couches and a TV. All in all, a great time, and a really pretty decent bar. Would absolutely stop in again for dinner and drinks.
