It might help that the BA is right downstairs from my apartment, but I stop in all the time. The owner and most-time beertender, Barry, is a true expert and knows his product well enough to give a useful opinion on just about everything he carries. The bottle selection is small compared to some of the other places in Seattle, but he brings in a lot of great beers. The rotating draft selection is usually quite excellent, and the recently upgraded bar is a great place to sit and have a few pints. The charity events and brewery-hosted tastings draw a crowd and are always enjoyable. Stop by and support Barry so he can expand his beer empire!

The reason to come here is Barry. He’s the owner and an awesome guy. He raises money for charity, his tastings are in 10z glasses not just little sips, a great bartender, dead on recommendations, and if you live/work in the neighborhood you get a discount. Beer Authority has all your usual NW beers and normal Belgians but because of lesser known distributors, The Beer Authority carries 750ml versions of Belgians that you can’t find at other bottle shops in the area. Their growlers to go are cheaper than every bottleshop i’ve been to. Kegs are cheap and Barry will help you figure it all out if you are n00b. Sounders are on the plasma as well as other sports events.

This place is awesome! Tons of local and international brews. Tastings every Tuesday & Saturday. Local brewers as well as several from Colorado stop by for special events. Barry (the owner) is knowledgeable, friendly, and always helpful. If he doesn’t have something you want, he’ll do everything in his power to get you what you’re looking for. Large selection of German Hefeweizens, English Ales, and some of the Pacific Northwest’s finest beers. You CANNOT go wrong with The Beer Authority!

definitely the best bottle shop and beer bar in the area. Burc, the regular barkeep, is easily one of the most friendly and knowledgeable beer geeks in town. with an awesome selection of rotating drafts and one of the best bottle selections around, this is my default option for craft beer.

Very knowledgeable, very friendly staff. They offer tastings several evenings of the week. Each tasting showcases a different style, and there are usually three samples. Very wide selection, organized by region.

My fault for missing this place for so long. Really nice local bottle shop, strong on PacNW locals, weak on Belgians. Most of the beers tend to be on the less expensive end of the spectrum, which is quite nice, because it serves as a reminder than one can still pick up some very solid bombers for $4-$6, and one can leave with a mixed case for under $50. That never happens to me at Bottleworks! In addition to the 500 or 600 bottles, they’ve got a nice little bar with a bunch of good taps and inexpensive growler fills. The owner Barry is super-friendly and helpful; stop in and say hi if you haven’t already.

Great place. Good selection on tap, pretty good selection of bottles, really friendly staff. Seems like a place I could really get in to. If you are local, it’s a nice place to grab a beer and watch the game. I will be stopping in again from time to time.

Just down the street from our gym, so after we workout, we stop by for a pint! Excellent, knowledgable service from Barry, nice selection. He has Boundry Bay in bottles where Whole Foods doesn’t. Always some new and interesting on tap. Surprisingly nice ambiance for a beer store. Makes you want to have a seat and enjoy a pint, or sip while you browse the coolers. A more welcoming and sincere place than Bottleworks. He need better signage to pull in the heavy after work crowd on Lake City Way. It’s an easy place to miss that shouldn’t be missed!

Lots of quality local, out-of-state and Foreign brews to choose from as well as a nice tap list. Makes for a good stop after hitting up the Elliot Bay brewpub.
