80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 ck1 (32) Illinois | October 16, 2012| Updated December 1, 2012 Nice clean place. Interesting bar area setup, with a long bar, a long bar-style seating area in the middle of th eplace, with tables on the outer edges. Seems to leave a lot of room for people to stand I guess. Decent service. One of the two bartenders we had knew his stuff, other was lacking somewhat. A bit disappointing that 40 taps included nothing outstanding--and the three that I ordered off the menu were all "just popped". Wide variety of bottles, yes, but you would think with 40 taps, you wouldnt need to go to bottles. Shrug. Worth a revisit, hoping their draft menu gets a little more creative. Rerate 12-1-12. Bumped them up a tick for selection and service. They seem to be working glitches out. Still pricey though | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Scipio (12) Palatine, Illinois | April 9, 2012| Updated December 1, 2012 Quite the gem that has appeared right in my own backyard. The place itself is a a decent size, with an inviting beer garden. The bar is smaller, but there is plenty of seating available, with a couple of communal seating tables thrown in. Bands play, they are not to loud to drown out conversation, and don’t play obnoxious music. There are a couple of tvs which can be a nice distraction if necessary. But this isn’t the type of place where you go to watch a game. The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. They really know their stuff about their products. And that selection is what really makes this a truly special bar. I didn’t count, but there are 30-40 beers on tap. If this is not satisfying enough, there are in the range of 400 additional beers in bottle. Wide ranging in variety, style, flavors, and costs, I must say that it would be absolutely impossible not to find something you want, or perhaps something you have never tried. It is truly mindboggeling when choosing what to order. Many of these beers are reasonably priced as well, from $4-$6. Of course, there are some that are more expensive, as any good bar should. But these are rare offerings, or just expensive anyway. A pretty cool feature is that they don’t serve food. Instead, they have menus from the surrounding restaurants that you can order through Beer Market. Those respective clientele from the restaurant will then walk it over to you. Overall, this is a unique bar. It attracts a wide range of friendly people, the beer selection is first rate, and this place is just flat out cool. You can’t go wrong here. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 jbmanz (2) Illinois | April 5, 2012| Updated April 6, 2012 New beer bar with nothing other than a huge fantastic selection craft beer! About 40 draft choices and nearly 500 bottles! While there is no food or kitchen on site, luckily the half dozen local restaurants (their neighboring buildings) provide a variety of food options to be carried over or delivered! (local menus kept on-hand in the beer market).
The draft choices contain a wide range from local Tighthead breweries Irie IPA to Avery New World Porter and many in-between. Two large bottle coolers – one filled with all USA beers the other with Germans, Belgium’s and more.
Also – for the sports fans – there are 10 flat screens, and they appear to be hooked into some Sports packages! Oh and they have free WI-FI.
Great new place! Located at the Northwest corner of Milwaukee Ave (Route-21) and Route-45
