I realized I forgot to rate this place as i was reading a trip report from my mountaineering website where i mentioned coming here. Stopped in for lunch and a few beers after climbing Mt Mitchell before running to airport. Kinda corporate but overall cool place with decent selection of locals to rate and food was good. the staff was friendly
Sportsbar and restaurant in the heart of downtown Asheville. Pretty cool place with big panel-type windows that open up to the street when the weather is nice. Watched a few World Cup matches as I sampled their draught selection. Lots of regional and local brews on tap from places like Pisgah and Sweetwater. The best I had was Oskar Blues Old Chub. Food was okay.

A beer/sports bar. Its right downtown, and has 30 tap. The staff seems to be a bit stretched, but was friendly and helpful.
Bar and game room setup. Tons of TVs to watch the game. Average selection for Asheville, less local then other spots. If you are shopping in the area then sure get a pint, but I wouldn’t make a special trip. Food was great! Nice selection. (reviewed from notes)
Pretty decent selection in a bar that almost feels like its in the middle of a mini-mall. Service has never been that bad for me here, but I’ve only been twice so I don’t have too much experience with it.
stopped on a brief asheville trip. had an ok selection. wanted to find some of the local fare and seemed a little slimmer than expected. one of the catawawba’s on tap, one pisgah, a few other carolina brews - but lacking. otherwise had a fairly straightforward selection of american craft brew. we ate dinner and the food was pretty good. waiter didn’t know anything about the beer though. ok overall.
A nice selection of beers. $3.50/pint for quality microbrews. A good stable of regionals on tap, looked like a good whack of bottles, but didn’t get to that tonight. Food was standard pub fare - prices were very reasonable. Kids’ meals with drink were $4.00 - can’t beat that. I had the fish sandwich and it was nice and crispy, the sweet potato fries were very good. Nachos are HUGE. Service is blase to sluggish. Gratuity is built in at a rather low threshold - 6 guests or split tickets - which always frosts me. Generally clean, gets a little smoky sometimes. Quaint and artsy.
stopped in to this huge place 7/17/11.... again, it’s friggin huge... and dark. beer list is quite large but less locally diverse than barley’s (where i had just come from).
it had a nice vibe... i guess a dive-y, darker, more grimy clientele... so i fit in well. service was spot on.
we went on a drizzly sunday afternoon right after xmas, so you can imagine it was pretty dead. we were seating inside. as i saw the fratboy-looking waiter approach, i thought i wasn’t going to get a good recommendation from him based on my preferences. boy, shows you dont judge a book by its cover. the guy knew me exactly the right thing (Delerium Tremens), and a couple of other good belgian ales i hadnt tried before. service suffered a little as the place got a little more busy, but still a pretty good experience. the food was pretty good, nothing special. prices were about where they should be. i will definitely be back, and when a beer urge calls, its will be my go-to place.
