We stopped in for a weekend dinner. Order food and beer upfront and go find a seat. Itís a fairly big area with a square bar in the middle of a dining area and a pool table on the side. They had 20-some taps, including a cider and two nitros; and thereís a bunch (100s?) of bottles in upright coolers to have there or take-away. The pretzel, beer cheese, fries and mac & cheese were delicious. If you want more beer for food after your initial order just text it to the bar without having to get up into line again. Well worth going out of your way for.

Great bar/restaurant/bottle shop in Eugene. Iíd been to the old bar a few times in the past, but this new (opened April 2013) and much expanded one is really something. 24 taps, pretty well selected. Cool electronic tap list board showing all beer info, plus approximate percentage remaining in each keg -- this is also available in real time on their web site. About 1,000 bottles in a long cooler section along one side. Bar seating for maybe 35-40. Tables for 247 (I asked). There were 50-60 people there in mid afternoon on a Thursday. Wide, airy space. Some fairly loud music on the system. Variety of pub food: entrees, salads, sandwiches. Also six pairing items, with a recommended brew for each. Service was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. Great place!

An awesome place, the doubles as a bottle shop / bar & restaurant. The bottle shop section has an extensive selection, almost rivalling Belmont Station. Prices for the bottles seem high at first, but those are dine-in prices - you get a 20% discount to go. Beer selection is solid on tap, and priced very reasonably. Food menu offers a nice selection of sandwiches and salads, including some nice veggie/vegan options. *The* place to go for bottle shopping and draught beer when in Eugene:

The Bier Stein is a nice bottle shop/cafe combo in Eugene. The food is decent and the beer selection is great. Between the taps and the excellent supply of bottles, you are sure to find something youíll enjoy (or never had). Service can be a bit so-so...but that can be attributed to it typically being busy when Iím there. Bottle supply is very nice, but prices are high. If you buy the beer to go, then they knock 20% off...but that can still be a tad higher than other places in town. However, the one-stop shopping for specific bottles can be worth the premium.

Not difficult to find. Parking was a little bit of a challenge. I like the newer place. More room to sit. Easier to access beers in coolers. Found several beers Iíve been looking for on my visit. I will go back again and hopefully, get something to eat.

I stop in here often when working in the area. A great place if you can find a seat. Usually packed when school is going. Taps are usually good and there are always unique brews in the coolers.............................................................
Review of new Bier Stein on Willamette Street - Wow!!! Plenty of seating and room to move around. Clean and modern without losing the charm of the old place. Lots of new taps. Very impressed. New score of 90.

A great place to buy all sorts of bottled beer (local, regional, national, and international). The bar always has a great selection of beers on tap, and the workers are happy to give free tasters. The patrons seem to be devout locals, and you canít help but feel like you are being judged by their hazy eyes.

College town. Quite the distance from Portland. Nice drive, though. Open space. As you walk in there are chairs to the left, and couple of bar stools to the right, where, you guessed it, the taps are located. Some bottles are strewn across the left-hand wall, so if there are people sitting there, it makes it a little awkward to go look. Anyways, Bottles are also located in coolers along the back, right-hand side of this joint. Nice selection of foreign shit, and a relatively decent select of domestic shit, too. I canít say that this place blew my mind, but I will say that they had some surprises, none of which I purchased. Prices were a little high, actually. Tap list was solid. Overall, an enjoyable experience, if you were to go here first, but if youíve already been to Belmont Station and Johnís, donít expect to be blown away. Cheers. Rumor is theyíre moving, too.

Incredible jewel of a bottle shop located right off U of Oregonís campus. Nice bar at the entrance with a phenomenal selection of local rotating handles. Referís in the back stock a plethora of 12oz and 22oz singles - lots of west coast selections featuring small-time Oregon breweries with a nice range of northern to southern California mainstays (Green Flash, AleSmith, etc) that are rare finds in my area. Staff was not overly friendly but they were pretty busy so Ill give them a pass on that. Did not have time to sample the restaurant but it smelled fantastic and I saw a few thick hot sandwiches making their way to different tables. Everything looked clean and the decor was sharp.

Great selection, great food, knowledgeable staff and typically, good crowd, at least the ones at the bar. Selection is pretty good, even for someone like me from NY, but add the Eugene-type service, and you have a winner. This is one place that I would love to come back.
