This place is awesome. We were up visiting Eugene on a baseball/beer trip and found this place. Loved the atmosphere, loved the food, and of course loved the beer. so much beer there were too many to count. They also had great sandwich selection for food and about 10 good beers on tap. WOW!!

This place it tops for finding unusual and hard to get beers!! Seating capacity is only moderate.....but people without seats are encouraged to oggle the refrigerator cases for interesting beer labels WHILE SIPPING THEIR TAP POUR!! Friendly. Great conversation place.....can get kinda loud at times, but thats just cuz everyone feels so comfortable. Selection is of course awesome, with over 900 beer choices....and food is pretty decent. Some excellent sandwiches and appetizers. No fries or onion rings is the only minus on the food side. Only way to improve this place is expand....or maybe get some dart boards. Donít miss going here while in the Eugene / Springfield area.

A nice big selection of quality beer. Clean. A little too bright. Small. Always crowded. A little too bright for my taste in bars. Closes early. Good food.

Well, in Eugene the Bier Stein is KING! I mean --- even in most large cities there are NO places that truly offer 900+ beers. Very friendly staff.

This is a clean well-lighted restaurant/bar with ample seating at the 8 - stool bar and the dozen or so tables. There are 10 taps dispensing decent, but rather mediocre imported and domestic beers. But the real attraction is the awesome selection of great beers along the walls and in the huge refrigerator section. For example, there is a full line of Dogfish Head (about a dozen beers) and also Fantome (about 8 beers). One can take home any beer from the cooler or drink it at the bar (in an appropriate glass) for no additional charge. I wasnít hungry, but the guy next to me said the food was excellent. The barkeeps are friendly and helpful.

By far the best place in Eugene, the owner Chip has done amazing things with this place. Very small place, but feels more spacious inside, set up very European like, you get to eat with strangers often. The beer selection is amazing and very well kept. You can either get beer with your meal or take it to go. The food was excellent and the service top notch. Wish this place had been there when I was still in school.

This is the place!!! A few great taps. not too many, that way the beer stays fresh. if you donít like the taps, grap a temp controlled bottle, and theyíll open it for you. Discount if you just want to shop. Bought some really great goodies!!! Better than Bottleworks. Freindlier too.

Took forever, but I finally made it down to Chipís place. This place is awesome. Beer is everywhere. Lots of GOOD beer, with a 15% discount for "to go" beer. They even have the proper glassware for everything. Everyone there was knowledgeable and very friendly/helpfull. Had a couple of sandwiches (went twice) and both were great. Itís great when the owner and wife are actually running the place. WARNING - Donít park in the lot next door. Itís been converted to a pay lot and they will tow you.

Ok, itís been a while, and itís time to update this rating. The Bier Stein is still the premier place to go in Eugene for quality beer. If you drank somewhere else on accident, go do your penance immediately. If you drank somewhere else on purpose, thatíll be 20 "Hail Chip"ís. Everything is still awesome and itís still the best. They DO have a TV now, despite what the profile says. But good luck finding a seat for the game unless you get there early.

Good God... The Beer Stein leaves me in tears every time I leave. I used to think Bottle Works was hands down the best beer store in America. The Beer Stein is definitly giving it a run for its money. I can walk 8 blocks from my house, drink a Giradin Black label, eat authentic German sausages, talk with Chip about the case of Jolly Pumpkin sitting in the back, and buy a bomber of Peche Mortel to cellar. Once again...Good God
