There are a few open around Belgrade, we went to the one close to the riverside. The location is nice for a sunset, however the selection its quite short. We tried the IPA and the belgian abbey, both ok but thats it.

There are better pubs in Belgrade but it has quite good own beers. Food and service is average, the pub is nice, decoration signs for own brewery. Special beers are often missing in pub!

Visited two of the four Black Turtle Pubs in Belgrade. Not a real beer place, for the discriminating beer geek, but in Belgrade standards, it is an absolute must.
The beers are fair (tried the stout and an blueberry ale), excellent value. And I think the bar staff take a great pride in their beers. By far the best "beer place" in Belgrade.

Visited Black Turtle 2 and 3. Both have great atmosphere. Chill, non-corporate local, young, and good vibe. The 2 is near the fortress above river. The 3 is in cool neighborhood but not far, in center. The beers are fun even if not so good, but if you can get hands on the non-syrup fruit beer (summer only?) then those are really nice.

I am reviewing the place, right now, while i am enjoying my xmass beer pint here.
Nice bar, different from the rest of the serbian bars-pubs. Good atmosphere and nice food. Not so big beer selection ( actually its small),but they serve their own beer.
Nice music, friendly people and very reasonable prices.
If you find your self in belgrade and u love beer, u just check it.

Found two of the four locations. Had the svetlo on an UEFA game night - Slovenia vs Serbia. Good place to be. Beer wasn’t too exciting, good service, people in good mood despite being one down. Went to the location close to the Denube river, nice ambience, relaxed crowd Friday afternoon. The two young girls watching the bar were not really alert initially but helpful once they spotted me. Three of their normal four beers on draft. Quality medium at best - how one can f**k up an IPA on 8% I don’t get. The smoked was okay. Despite this - I really don’t enjoy that people smoke that heavily in Belgrade bars. Given the fact that Serbia became an official EU member candidate during my stay this may have been the last time I experienced this

Hmm, I was sure I split these into separate locations and rated the one I visited. Guess I was wrong.
Soo... The Black Turtle Pub aka. Kornjača. I was itching to visit one of these when I first heard of it, one of the few outlets for the rare yet apparently good WfB beers, known for mixing their beer with various syrups. Fast forward a couple of years -> I finally get to visit the Balkans (ask me for my definition) for the first time, and turn up in Belgrade in October 2010 with my uni colleagues as a guest of our most generous Serbian colleagues. The WfB’s not brewing anymore but hey, the Turtle guys actually opened a microbrewery of their own, but not in Belgrade - as west as it goes in Serbia - in the village Kukujevci by the Croatian border. Anyway, now they are making their own beers, a pale and a dark. Yay!
So basically, decided to o one of these with a friend, and chose the Turtle III at Gospodar Jovanova as it was the closest one (so yeah, will move the rating if the entry’s ever split), and after trundling downhill Dositejeva street from the Vase Čarapića street we arrived at a dark, relatively small little pub, though cool enough, no-one there except us and the waiter (who was cool ’nuff, playing with Youtube for the music in the pub most of the time, which was good from what I remember). They had both of their own beers, which shared a distinct, heavy passionfruit-like taste, which I though was ok in the dark, but crappy in the pale. They didn’t have the Lav Tamno, but that was quite widespread then so it’s hardly a bad thing. 3/7/8/-/-/12
In August 2011 I visited the Dečanska 23 location (Prešernova Klet), and, days before BBF where they would present their IPA, Rauch and Stout (ok, so that one was already out this spring), they only had the pale ("organic pils"), and even that wasn’t in perfect condition. It’s a cool place, however, with WiFi (the range is strange though), and food. Good service, though the waitress didn’t know much about the beer. Well, once it gets the new beers post-BBF, it’ll become a 3.5/7/10/?/?/12

Centrally located bar, serving their house brews, which has some peculiar but pleasant house flavours. Rushed in just before midnight on a monday night The place was empty, but we were promptly served without a fuzz.

Update (1/2012) - in the years since I first posted on Black Turtle they’ve developed a healthy microbrewing tradition, including Stouts, Rauchbier, an "IPA" and a new ’New Years’ beer. All are worth seeking out if you are visiting Belgrade, because there isn’t anything else like them in the area, even if they could be a lot more solid.
Also, food at the Decanska 23 location is worth seeking out, decent portions for 290din, which is very cheap for kafana food.
Four locations around Belgrade, including the latest one at Dečanska 23 near Nikola Pasic Trg. They serve the normal suspects for Belgrade plus some specials: a house beer contract brewed for them and mixes of this and fruit syrup, which is their ’house specialty’. I think they’re awful and not really beer, but they’re popular. This is also the only place I’ve seen a beer called ’Lav Tamno’ which is a dark beer brewed by one of the largest breweries in Serbia.
Atmosphere is nice and clean, fresh for the Belgrade scene and a good addition to the scene here. But not worth seeking out unless you want a few more odd ratings.
