A neat place to go to near Dupont Circle. Sometimes they donít have the beer you want, but sometimes you get surprised and find out they have bombers of Anchor OSA from 1998! Always ask for them to check upstairs, because a lot of the servers donít know the beers they have. Great selection. Every time I have been there they have had DFH 90 minute on draft. Food is OK, but itís fun to go to.

I went here a ton of times when it was the Brickskeller. Really impressive bottle list, and always good for some fun times. What is there now is a hollow shell parody of what once was.

I realize that I hit this place on their decline, but the handful of times I was there was just...sad. The stories of what this place used to be are fantastic. However, the owners just refused to update with the times and were pushed out by better beer bars in the area. RIP.

Went there for happy hour on Thursday and had a great time.... Place is full of history and from what i saw, they really improved the place. Beer selection is smaller (around 500 beers), but they had everything we asked for in stock. Had the sicilian pizza... it was HUGE. Apparently they have 50 taps coming... looking forward to that.

walked here. but they were closed Monday at 2pm due to renovations or some bs. so if nothing else, this is a warning to call ahead if coming during lunch hours. went in. no one was there. neat looking building. old brick walls. looks like a dungeon. has potential to be a neat place to consume beers. heard a lot of bad things about this place from locals though... terrible food, bad service, they give you a huge book of beers to choose from, you pick one, they come back in 10 minutes saying it is no longer available, repeat. not a super fair rate since i didnít try any beer or food here myself. but the bricks were nice, and i trust the people who provided me this info, so might as well pass it on.

I walked in wanting to fall in love, and walked out depressed and disgusted.
Probably worth the visit for decor alone (huge collection of vintage beer paraphernalia). I visited twice over the course of three days in January. On both visits I spoke with the staff where very unhappy with their jobs. (Strike One)
The selection, though above average, was nothing that I couldnít get at another bar, that shall remain unnamed, within walking distance that was cleaner with satisfied employees who enjoy their work. (Strike Two)
The food: I foolishly ate on both visits. The first visit I had the Beer Brat with kraut. The bun was stale and hard on the top and so soggy on the bottom that the wurst fell through upon initial pick-up. The kraut was utterly repulsive and had to be pushed aside. The second visit involved a veggie burger with squishy innards that was so repulsive that revisiting the experience as I write is making me ill. (Strike Three)
The waiter though was very friendly, and being able to relate to my misery gave me a free beer at the end. I tipped him 25% out of sheer pity: anyone whose lot in life leads them to work at the Bier Baron (former Brickskeller) deserves sympathy.
PS - The bar that shall remain unnamed within walking distance to the Bier Baron has amazing pizza and a green salad with white anchovies that will change your world.

After finding this place online and seeing that they have over 1000 beers, I was hoping that it would be nice. Yea that was wishful thinking. I didnít mind that the place looks like it is already closed by the way it is kept up and barely any lights on inside. The worst part though is the service. It seriously seems like everyone there either hates their job or just anyone that actually comes in and forces them to work.

Iíve been to the Brickskeller twice, once for a Three Floyds event(that was awesome!) and then this weekend to hang out. Place is a "dive" with a massive beer list, but the usual issue that most people in DC know that the beer bottle menu isnít what they really have. I ended up just naming a brewery and then having the waitress check what they had in stock. Might be better sitting at the bar(so I can see what they have) or upstairs(where there is drafts). Iíd rather go to RFDís, their sister restaurant in Gallery Place.

One of a kind place, but seems to be headed for the dustbin. Arguably the worst service in town, but without a modern system to keep track of what is in stock, it is a problem to be expected with that many bears on the menu.

Great selection of bottled beer. However, they were out of many of beers I wanted to try as I was looking for something Iíve never had before.
Service was amazingly slow. We got there as it opened and there were a total of 6 people to serve. Apparently, thatís too many for the staff to handle. The server was pleasant and great with suggesting beers. Just slow.
The food had potential had it been done right. The burger was a bit underdone. The fries were cold by the time we got them (and we were the first food order of the day).
No air conditioning. Just a couple of box fans.
Somehow, the place was still nice, despite all this. But not worth a repeat visit.

What can you say? I used to love to visit this dive when I lived in DC. Great beer selection, awesome beer history on the walls and did I mention the great beer selection...
