They had at least 4 Real Ale beers on tap, including Lost Gold IPA. The other few taps they had were Alamo Golden Ale, Shiner and Lone Star maybe. Not really a selection worth seeking out on its own, but I was surprised to see all the RA. Service was non-existent. The bartender took 5 minuted to pour 2 beers and chat up 2 other patrons at the bar whom he had already been talking to before I walked up to the bar. A female server walked behind the bar to pour a beer and request a drink for another patron at the other end of the bar who wasnít getting service from the bartender either. He gladly started making the drink for her right in front of me and this is when I expected him to say "Hi" or "Sorry, I will be right with you," or even just acknowledge that I had been standing there for over 5 minutes waiting on him. No reason to go back here.

Deifnitely a touristy kind of place. Didnít do any of that stuff there. BBQ wasnít bad - had the ribs and brisket plate. They did have 4 Real Ale brews on tap plus the Alamo Ale. Other than that, just your basic macor crap.

Visited 7-31-2010- while I was waiting for my room at the Valencia, strolled on down and had to see what was going on. Old time player piano as soon as you hit the door could be heard, along with various stuffed animals (AKA yummy dinner items) to take your photo with and to take photos of. If you wanted food, you could place an order and wait, but I was just here to enjoy the place. Service- old gentleman maning the back, but we cut and draw about alot of things and had some laughs. Only 9 noticeable choices on draft, but with a seperate 4 for Real Ale. Get the large 20 oz. draft- served in an enormous 5 lb. thick glass chalice- itís the way beer SHOULD BE served! If beer is not your thing, they do have a full bar, itís better to have some whisky in a place like this anyway. Overall- not for the proto-typical 2 oz. spitting beerpaygner who gets 100 ratings in 10 hours, but if you take that damn cell phone out of your eyes and ears (it just enslaves you instead of helps you kids), and just listen to the place, you can feel the history. Definately will be back, if only I could just find some damn place to park without paying an arm and a leg...

If you find yourself in need of good beer while in downtown San Antonio, this is a worthwhile visit. The ambiance is incredible. This barís heritage dates back to 1881 and along the way, it was the tap house for Lone Star Brewing. Today, you can buy Lone Star breweriana in their giftshop. They have a museum display of bottles representing all the beer ever sold at the Buckhorn. The BBQ was OK. Super nice little girls work behind th bar. The original back bar is huge and amazing. The tap selection is heavy on Texas beer including 5 taps alone dedicated to Real Ale brewing of Blanco TX.
