Great place to go and hangout after work or on Friday and Saturday nights. Right in the heart of Downtown Raleigh on Wilmington street sits this nice bar that has a lot of beers to choose from and really good food to go with it. If you plan on going on a Friday or Saturday night plan on waiting for a table to open up for a while, or get there really early to claim a spot. Overall the atmosphere is hopping, the bartenders are knowledgeable and the food is top notch. Great place!
One of my favorite bars in Raleigh. Only 6-10 taps or so, but theyíre always excellent. The food is incredible - the "crack tots" aka tater tots with truffle oil on them are delicious. Ambience is great with lots of exposed brick and lots of different local artists featured every month.
I stopped in for a few brews before a set I played at the bar next door. Nice place. There was a good selection of drafts and some good bottles too. They were focused heavily on Terrapin for some reason and nearly half the drafts were those beers. One cool thing they had was an apparent one off bourbon barrel beer from LoneRider. It is a sign of a good beer bar when they go out and get special, rare beers. I didnít eat the food myself but some friends got it and it seemed like your typical high-end pub eats. I will be back my next time in Raleigh.
Dinner here before the WBF. The selection was not huge but there were quite a few rarities and hard to find beers. Service was perfectly fine, and the food was tasty. I will say this, though - I rarely complain about price, but I did notice that everything seemed a bit on the high side. A nice place, to be sure, but maybe a little too precious.
I was lucky enough to be in Raleigh when the Busy Bee was tapping Life & Limb. The staff was very friendly and engaging. It was a very relaxed, mellow environment. The loaded tater tots were a great appetizer and the Pork Osso Bucco was just awesome. I would definitely make it a point to stop here every time Iím in Raleigh.
Recently visited here on a Friday night. The restaurant was not too busy but did seem to start filling up as we were leaving around 8:00. Very nice ambiance in an historic building in downtown Raleigh. Our server was attentive, prompt, and polite. The food was very good and reasonable. The beer selection, while not extensive, was very impressive. Nearly every beer was not your run-of-the-mill selection. Some were even darn near impossible to find most places. They had just tapped Sexual Chocolate Stout the night before so I was pleased. I didnít grab a growler to go of anything but they were available for some beers. Overall, this a very good restaurant with an impressive beer selection. A must visit you are in Raleigh.
Went to this joint with Immy, emacgee, OldStyleCubFan, and a couple of Immyís pals. Crowded on a Saturday night, but still a very enjoyable ambience. Nice soft wood with some copper and bronze fixtures visible (kinda mid-90s but okay). Didnít try the food, but the tap selection was quite good (albeit a tad pricey).
Nice 3 story restaurant in Raleigh. The first floor is a typical bar, several tables and a long bar with plenty of local taps like Aviator and Big Boss. The second floor is just tables, but the 3rd floor has an outdoor patio and another bar they call "the hive", which has different beers than downstairs. Food was good, I particularly liked the calamari and the NC cheese platter. Very nice staff, although service got slow as the night wore on and the place filled up. Still, a good stop with some worthwhile brews.
