wow, stumbled into this one just walking around town, my wife found it - good eye! small store but clean with nice wooden floors. they are very selective and only stock great bottles. i bought a duck rabbit porter, de struisse black albert, and a amager hr. fredericksen! on tap this week are Sierra Nevada Bigfoot, Foothills Torch Pilsner, COAST HopArt IPA, Stone Double Dry Hopped Old Guardian, Great Divide Claymore Scotch Ale, Moylans Hopsickle Imperial IPA, Stoudts Smooth Hoperator, Founders Breakfast Stout, Ballast Point Bourbon Barrel Black Marlin Porter. After a while I noticed a sign at the top of the cold case that read, "no, we don’t sell fat tire ale." Ha Ha!!

Wonderful beer store, with lots of stuff I’ve never seen before from the local area and from Europe. Great selection packed into a tiny little place. Friendly service as well. A must stop in if you’re in the area.

Really small shop, but packs a great selection into the space. A great selection of singles including a good selection of both local stuff as well as international beers. Growler station with around 6 taps and numerous sizes of growlers available. Really nice shop, I will stop back anytime I am in Charleston.

A tiny shop with a great beer selection - local brews plus some of the best from Europe. I’m not a great shopper but this place is lovely and the service was friendly and knowledgeable.

Visited on Wednesday 18/02/15 around 4pm.
Located downtown and around a 5 minute walk from the Souhend Brewery and Smokehouse, the Charleston Beer Exchange is a small shop in an old building on a side street heading towards the waterfront.
In addition to the bottles (looked like a good few hundred to me, but nowhere near 900 in my experience of things) there were also 10 tap lines for growler pours.
The selection was a good mix from around the world, US local, national, a shelf of Mikkeller beers, lots of De Molen, lambics (but no Cantillon for those searching), German etc etc.
Service was very friendly and they tried to find me a few CDA ticks to no avail!
Solid bottle shop and no doubting the best in the area but not in the world class bracket for me.

Visited after they tapped Westbrook Mexican Cake and were filling growlers! Tremendous customer service and knowledge about their products. Space is quaint and used to perfection!! Wish this beer heaven was closer to me!!

Cozy beer shop with lots and lots of different beers to choose from. Really friendly staff. Since I bought so many beers, they gave me a beer glass of any choice for free. The prices are fair. They even have 3 different sizes of growlers to buy. A must go when in Charleston.

Great place with a great selection of beers. Only down side is you are most likely going to need to walk several blocks so it’s lots of fun if you buy a lot.

Stopped in before departing Charleston. Small place but lots of great beers. Talked with the owner for quite a while, he was very helpful. He was expecting a release that day, the phone kept ringing, but he always came back and pointed out a few other items to me. Well worth the stop, would definitely visit again.

i love this place, but the last time i was in there, the little asian guy was a dick to me. i could have gone without the sarcasm and condescension.
